When i turn on my PS3 and the log in file names appear, i click on my user name and it just freezes. The PS3 itself is still working as i can use the PS button on the control for options but it just wont go through too the part where i can view my friends, and the game i want to play etc. Also, when i try to turn the PS3 off via the controller options settings "Turn off System", it doesnt turn off properly, it just beeps 3 times and the screen goes black. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? any help would be brilliant. Thank You
I found it 2 min. ago. Ok here: while your ps3 is on hold the power button on the ps3 for you will hear one beep, keep holding it then when you hear the second beep take your finger off. Your ps3 should turn off. Now push the power button while holding your finger on it again, you will hear two single beeps, then a double beep, let your finger ago and a screen should appear with six options. Chose something like reset(or restore) file data or something like that and click yes, this wont do anything to your game/music/movie/etc. files but now your ps3 shall work.

Your hard drive has a problem and needs to be formatted. this has happened to me twice already but not with the original hard drive that came with the ps3, I changed mine to a 500 gig drive which had the problems.
the bad news is that you have lost everything that you saved onto the drive and need to reformat and reinstall the ps3 operating system.
If you go through the system settings there is an option to format the drive. Do that. Then you need to get a USB flash drive, and follow the steps below
Download the update and save the file to a compatible storage device such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, a USB or PSP.
Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named "PS3" in the storage media or USB. In this folder, create a folder named "UPDATE" (the folder name is case sensitive and must appear in capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder is created, download and store the update for PS3 system software.
Once the update saved, remove the storage media and connect to your PS3 via the slots under the slot cover, or USB, depending on the storage medium used.
Once the storage media connected, go to Settings on the home menu of the PS3, select System Update, then update via Storage Media. Select the storage media connected to the PS3 installs the update data stored there.

Conrad Zimmerman of Destructtoid is reporting that PSN is going to
have some scheduled maintenance today. This could be why users are complaining
of problems logging on to their accounts.
The maintenance is expected to

are at work during this time so it will not be a problem for them, but for
everyone else it will be somewhat of an annoyance.

its the 3.00 update that does the freezing thingy, or so i heard it was, normaly i would say, go update it to the latest wich is 3.01, but im having huge problems with my ps3 after i updated, so i wont requment that at the moment. so try to restore the database and filesystem, if that wont work then try to make a full system restore.
Your tv screen has problems with the video mode that has setted up on your ps3, hold the power button till hear two beeps, this will reset the video mode of the ps3, and leavse you at a screen to set up the video mode of the ps3.
Try Accessing the Ps3 Recovery Menu
Turn off Ps3
Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again
Once the system has been shutdown, re-press your finger until you hear 2 consecutive (quick) beeps
When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button
You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the ps button
The recovery menu will pop up
* restart system
* restore default settings
* restore file system
Now I was not sure which one to choose. I clicked restart system and that did NOT work so I clicked restore ps3 and lost everything but it DEFINITELY WORKED!!
