Pull the unit away from the wall and take off the card board cover that hides the compressor. Now look on the compressor and do you see the little white or tan block attached to the compressor? That is a PTC relay I have a hunch it is bad. Cost about 30 dollars to replace you can get one at a appliance repair parts house.

Take the relay off the compressor and if it rattles it is bad.

Refrigerator getting to cold , thermostats at mid-range. Technician said thermostats faulty , i don't share that view .Before this refrigerator condenser was changed due to a leak & corrosion on it,...

The thermostat is the only thing that turns the compressor on and off with temperature.
Turn the thermostat to its lowest setting and see if the compressor turns off.
If not,the thermostat is bad.

The motor is running, but the temperature on the freezer and the refrigerator go up. Worked a couple times by unplugging and replugging. Now, cannot change the temperatures on the digital thermostat.

Food in my refrigerator freezes I have a top freezer maytag

There are 2 things to check - Your cold control dial - to rule out a thermostat problem lower it to 1 gradually and slowly until you hear a click and it shuts off - If it does not shut off, and only shuts off if you set it to the OFF position, then you have a thermostat problem and your compressor is continually running, freezing things in your refrigerator. If lowering your dial you hear a click and compressor shuts off, then the solution is to lower your dial, you have it set too cold - There is a thermostat in your refrigerator that should shut things off when it is cool enough it's either not working properly or your dial is set too cold.

Refrigerator not getting cold

Refrigerators and Freezer combination units have one common compressor and coolant for both units. If the refrigerator section is not getting cold I would check the following.
The cold zone is not blocked by a bag or box? The cold zone would be the coldest part of the refrigerator which vents the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator.
Is the fan working on the refrigerator to vent the cold air to the refrigerator? You should be able to hear it when you hold the door switch.
The thermostat is not working which I have found most common is the thermister is not registering the correct temperature causing the fan not to turn on.

Refrigerator operates properly for a few days then stops working

When you said it stopped working, do you mean it is not working at all? or is it not cold enough? If not working at all, that will be thermostat, when you change the thermostat, did you adjust the small switches to match you unit and make sure wires are connected properly, If not, it would work properly. If not cold enough, check and make sure the condenser fan motor and compressor are running, if both are running but not cooling then you have sealed system problem.
