do we need to just reset to default settings with our remote? Or...is there truly re-soldering involved?

SOURCE: stuck in protect mode

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.

It's in the protect mode because of a component failure inside. It needs to be repaired to get out of the protect mode.

I have a AVD-C700es and there is power going to the receiver but it won't turn on. Any suggestions? It seems to be stuck in standby mode!!!!!

Could be blown, most receivers now a days have overload protection that protects them, try disconnecting or checking your speaker wiring and turning it on again. Also try leaving it unplugged for a few minutes and trying again after. If all else fails, it is probably a internal fuse blown to protect the receiver, a repair shop will probably charge 100 to repair it.

Kenwood kdc-438u stuck in protect mode what do i do to get it to work

Disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver and turn it back on. If it does not go into protection, your receiver is ok. Re connect speakers one at a time and test until your receiver goes into protection, then trace the speaker wire to the speaker for cuts or shorts. If you have a multimeter, switch it to ohms and check the speaker for a dead short, you may have a blown speaker. Hope this helps.

Stuck protector mode

find out why the fuse blew in the first place.the protector is just PROTECTING the main circuits of the receiver.the receiver turns on just to confirm the power circuit is OK.
have it checked by an electronic engineer.

Speakers shorted out, blew a fuse. Replace the unit or (cross your fingers and) open up the box and find the blown fuse.
