Do you leave the unit on all day and night on standby?

If this unit gets to hot you can experience this problem I suggest that you turn the power OFF totally until the unit cools down and try again. Normally 15 mins is enough.

Solution! Go in the garage get that heavy duty sledge hammer and whack the hell out of it. When you are done go back inside open yourself a cold can of beer. Now tell yourself "Problem Solved" After cooling off for about 10 mins jump into the car drive to a store and buy a name brand Blu-ray / DVD player. Make sure you buy a warranty. If the warranty expires and that $hit happens again then get that Sledge Hammer!

Don't forget that cold beer afterwards!

Hi I haev a problem with A Philips DVDR3380/05

Use Phillips own media this unit was designed with DVD+R/RW in mind, it will work with DVD-R/RW discs but Philips invented the + format.

If you are using the DVDR 3380 is recorded video to then upload to your PC the best program is TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress it has its own function to scan source media from a DVDR, if you use +R or + RW media you don't even have to finalise it. This is only required if you want to play a DVD-R on another standalone

I have never had any problems with SONY and PHILLIPS media, generally speaking cheap unbranded media will have a higher failure rate , but you do get what you pay for when optical media is concerned.

Hope this helps, join www.windowstipsclub.co.uk for more tips and tricks concerning DVD's

Does not recognise discs

If this disc that you are trying to use is a DVD+/-RW and it has been used a few times for DVD-Video or DivX then you can try to do a FULL ERASE using the excellent ImageBurn by lightining now at v2.5.0.0 it takes about 20 mins to erase a full single sided DVD

Hope this helps.

Compatability issue with 3305

This is very simple. you just have to remember to finalize the disc. doing this stops you making further recordings on the disk but allows you to play it in other devices. to finallize the disk. just go to the filalise disk option in the "top menu".

Not playing back on another machine

First of all, make sure you finalize the disc before playing on another machine.

If this is not the cause then the following should help:

There was a compatibility issue with this model. Philips released a software update for this model.
