R52 bios i would like to ask if what in the bios of ibm r52

The hard drive may have dislodged from the HD terminal. Some early laptops didn't reinforce the connection here. There is a bay under the laptop with a HDD or O)) symbol that opens with a small Phillips screwdriver. There should only be 2-4 screws on the bay panel. Open the bay. The hard drive should be firmly connected to the computer. Make sure the connection is good, then replace the bay cover and screws.


Start up the computer...Update the post on your outcome.

The cmos battery is possibly at a critical voltage. Replace the battery and set the clock etc.

Your computer unable to save BIOS setting because of damage of your BIOS battery,So please replace the battery with new one.

OK< this is main fix I start with when working with a Thinkpad...Unplug from the AC adapter...remove the battery, and the cmos battery. That is the one about the size of a quarter. Leave them out for about 20 minutes. re assemble and try again...hope this helps...

If you bought it used, have the previous owner transfer the registration, or you're out of luck.

IBM uses a security chip on the motherboard that burns the password into it when a bios password is enabled. The only solution to getting around a bios password on an IBM is to replace the bios security chip or the motherboard.
