Device manager and if you see ethernet right click and disable
don't disable the wireless network then right click the wireless and if you see enable click otherwise click and update

restart--- then control panel and network connections
then view available networks if a network shows highlight and then click connect
if there are no networks then on left side of page click refresh network list do this until you see a network then again high light and connect
please let me know if you are connected now

Wireless connection on my Acer Aspire 1640 will not stay connected - What needs to be done? Using a Linksys Wireless N WRT160N VZ

This really seems to be a prob specific to Acer models. I've owned 4 laptops and never had this prob until my first Acer. Only thing that seems to work is to restart in Safe Mode, run a self diag, and restart in Normal Mode. Works every time! Unfortch I have not found a permanent solution yet.

I have an acer aspire 5315. Don't think I've wifi.

if you're using your pc as a gateway to connect to the internet you need to make sure the pc is turned on and connected before you connect wirelessly from your laptop. alternatively you can connect directly to your wireless router from your laptop, eliminating the need to use your pc to connect

Acer aspire one 8.9 wireless wont work

First make sure the wireless card driver in the computer is installed and the wireless is enabled and working.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
To access the Internet you need to connect the DSL or cable modem to the WAN (Internet) port on the wireless router.

No wireless internet on my brand new acer aspire one mini

- Check the toggle switch of your computer make sure that it is Enable
- Check if you have 3rd party software that is installed to the computer, that can use to connect wirelessly.
- Check the distance between your router and computer (100 meters is the maximum distance)

Wireless router compatability

I think yo should do this first before replacing:

To reset the router to factory defaults, connect the Ethernet cable to the router and check and set the settings.

This should allow you to get into the routers menu and see status and information to help you.

You also have to be sure whether or not you have 'allow windows to manage my wireless connection' checked or not
(In you Network setting)

Let me know what happens after that & I'll be glad to help

Wireless connection/will not connect

you cant connect to network if the network is using g band and you comuter is using only 802.11 a/b.. try to review the specification of your computer if WLAN is 802.11 a or b or g or a/b/g.. etc. your computer can only detect WLAN depends on its specs.

Wireless strength problem

It could be some many things.

The things that could prevent the signal from being strong are:
-Many layers of walls in your home.
-Interference from wireless phones,remote controls,radios,etc..
-Distance from your router

What company made your router, and what is the model number of it?

Can you link me to your laptop you bought from acer.com?

Also I need:
1.Computer type (laptop/desktop)
2.product name (Aspire 1300)

Thanks,
Cam
