Limited or No Connectivity Error Message

If you are still experiencing this error message even you may be experiencing one of several problems shown below:
1) Your Network or DSL router may have bad or missing information. Powercycle your router and/or rebuild the configuration in your router.
2) Double-check your cabling to the computer. Make sure you have the correct type of cabling, straight-through CAT 5 or possibly a crossover cable and try another cable or test the cable to make sure its working properly.
3) Check your network card to make sure its configured correctly and working properly. Many times setting the network card to 10Mbps/Full Duplex will solve this issue. To do this, open Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Go to the properties of the Network card, click on the Advanced tab and find the Link Speed and Duplex section. Change it from Auto Detect to 10Mbps/Full Duplex.
4) Check and test your firewall. Your firewall, especially if its a software firewall like ZoneAlarm, Black Ice, Norton Firewall or something else could be blocking the connection. Disable your firewall and test the connection. You may have to resolve the problem by even uninstalling and reinstalling the firewall.
5) Check your IP address assignments and workgroup settings in the computer for accuracy. Statically assign IPs to the computers in your network.
6) Reset your TCP/IP stack by downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe a Visual Basic program designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a variety of other connectivity issues.

Hi can you let me know what model netgear router you are using? it will be written on sticker underneath the netgear router. It sounds like you are doing everything correct aslong as the wep code you entered is right it should work. Do you have a working wireless connection on any computer or are they working with a cable plugged in? Once you post the model number.. i can let you know the correct steps to configure it for the wii.

Im trying to setup a second pc to my wireless router linksys wireless-G wrt54G it tells me to go to www.linksysfix.com/ela but its no longer available how do i connect my 2nd pc now?

Hi John
I'm not sure why you are being directed to that website. Connecting a second pc is just the same as connecting the first - nothing special is involved unless the router has been set up with access lists.
What is preventing the second pc from connecting? What sort of message are you getting when you try to connect?

Internet works via computer, not through router tho....

try to reset the router for 10-15 seconds. Access the configuration page of the router and reconfigure your router for Internet connection.

Try upgrading the firmware of your router.

Hi i have a satellite internet provider and im trying to set up my linksys broadband router so i can hook up my xbox 360 my problem is everytime i hook it up im getting no internet connection can you tell...

hi,
there are two things to be addressed in this case.firstly you have a satellite internet provider which can create consistency issue.then when you connect a xbox to router you need to do a port forwading on linksys router(port forwarding=opening ports in router so your xbox can communicate freely).in order to do the port forwarding you have to log onto router user interface.then go to applications and gaming tab, where you can do the port forwarding.
but before doing so,you have to contact microsoft to know the ip address assigned to the xbox and the ports(numbers) to be opened.
thank you.

Connecting

i have the same problem i moved and hooked everything up and now i cant get my router up and running or at least not with the internet. when it plug straight up to the cable modem i get the internet but when i hook it up to the network it has limited or no connection and i have been working on this thing for about a week. i think it is something small that i am over looking or something. i have it from the wall to the cable modem, from the cable modem to the router and then from the router to the computer. the cables i am using all work because i tested them straight from the computer to the cable modem and they worked
if you could help i would be greatfull and if need more info just tell me and i will do my best

Can't seem to hook up D-link router to my Arris cable properly

hello!

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work
