I have recently bought a new ipod and gave my old one to my daughter. In trying to load her things on to it, I discovered this ipod software has ween wiped off our computer. As this ipod needs installed software, I cant do anything unless I get the installation software again. Does anyone know where I can get it from?

Hi there, When you go into the ipod section on iTunes, click the music tab, make sure 'sync music' is checked and 'selected playlists:' is also, then check the playlist you want to use. Click 'sync' button
If that don't work go back to the summary tab and hit 'restore' and follow the instructions to reset the ipod, resync and all should be fine.
If the shuffle is over 18mth old it might very well be the battery. However do just try a Reinstall of iTunes then an upgrade of the shuffle software if you can connect it. The other alternative if the thing still doesn't connect is that it's the main board or connector itself although these are more unlikely. A new battery for a shuffle is about $5-10 (£3-6) on eBay and normally comes with instructions and tools.
The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore
Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with iPod shuffle. Try
these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved. If one of the following doesn’t
help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
â Reset iPod shuffle by turning it off, waiting five seconds, and then turning it back on
â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod shuffle in iTunes.
â Restart your computer, and make sure you have the latest software updates
â Reinstall iTunes software from the latest version on the web.
â Restore iPod shuffle. See “Updating and Restoring iPod shuffle Software” on
If iPod shuffle won’t turn on or respond â If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light blinks green. â Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. Your iPod shuffle battery may need to be recharged. â Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then turn it on again. â You may need to restore iPod shuffle software. See “Updating and Restoring iPod shuffle Software” on page 26.
I ran into the same problem about a month back. I tried everything to fix it. I finally brought it into the Apple Store and they said something inside the iPod was fried and they didnt have the tools to open it up and fix it righ there. They guy just gave me a new one for $32 (a battery recycle fee) I didnt have a warrenty but it was less then a year old. MY suggestion is to bring it in and see if they can fix it but more then likely your going to need a reapair.
