Firstly never try to use local battery because they are not good enough and damages handset . check your battery in other mobile if its works in other mobile then your handset need to be FLASHING ie. updation is required. Update your handset and never use local battery always use nokia brand. Thanks to help you
the nokia 6300 has a special chip in it so that each phone has a different code therefore its impossible to guess the code and unlock it free of charge.
I would advise you to pay vodafone because if you enter in the wrong code three consecutive times it locks the phone permantly.
Don't be cheap as I tried to get the code off the web and now its permantly locked to vodafone : (

I have just returned 2 Nokia phones to Tesco in a week for this same problem, Nokia say it is a software problem and all them models mine is a Nokia 6300 have that problem, it maybe that your Sony is suffering the same.
