Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Incompatible jpeg I don't know much about cameras. My daughter was getting this error on her canon so she could not review her pictures. She tried putting her memory card in my canon and we still got the same message. We were able to get the pictures saved by putting the memory card in the computer. Anyways now I keep getting that message on my camera with my own memory card. What could hers have done to mine??

I had the same pictures on my camera for a few weeks. My friend tried putting my memory card into her computer. the next time i went to review the pictures on the camera, some of them displayed "incompatable jpeg." I don't know why only some of the pictures would suddenly be unavailable! Anyone know?

Did you transfer the pictures back and forth from the camera to computer before you noticed this? If you did that, you would be changing the format that the camera recognizes thus preventing you to review those pictures on your camera again. This is normal and does not affect the picture as long as you can view them on your computer.

Some shots on review come up INCOMPATABLE JPEG

It might not be able to display some photos (different sizes or compression) from a different camera or jpeg files copied onto the card from a computer.
If the all the pictures are from the camera then the card could be corrupted. Try recovery software such as the free : http://www.piriform.com/recuva if some files can not be read. Copy the pictures onto a computer then format the card in the camera to erase it.

I will take a picture. A day later I go back to view it on my camera and there will be some pictures missing and it will say incompatible JPEG with a question mark on the screen. Where is my picture?

Hi.

First try to recover any images you want to keep with a program like the one you can download here, which is free:-

http://www.easy-flash-recovery.com/

Then try to format the card or memory, either by:-

1.) Format the internal memory or memory card (whichever has the problem) by using the menus in the camera, such as:- Review menu, Setup> Format

or if if that fails and you are using a card:-

2.) Format by inserting the card into the PC or using a card reader.
Then right click on the memory card's icon in the 'My Computer' window to bring up the format option, then format the card again in the camera itself to ensure compatibility.

Hope that helps. Regards

Where there once was a picture, there is now a ? & the words Incompatible JPEG. Please help. There are at least 2 of these on 2 of my favorite pictures from our recent trip.

HI This problem happens if the image has been edited by a photo editing prog. Try saving using Zoombrowser which comes with canon camera's.

Canon sd750- get a incompatable jpeg message when try to go back and view pictures stored on sd card. strictly on camera, computer not involved

It may have one or more bad files that the camera doesn't recognize... if you can load it into a card reader, you can look for a dissimilar file name from all the others.... or simply reformat the entire card via the camera menu.

Incompatible jpeg

Hi there
Save all the pictures to the computer, then format both cards using the menu in the camera, then take a picture and see if it takes them well.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!!

"incompatible jpeg image" message

Unfortunately Windows in particular can mess with the contents of the card just by reading it - it creates a thumbnails file on the card without asking etc etc.
It shouldn't mess with the actual pictures unless you have rotated them or perhaps removed the card without safely removing the hardware first.
Try reformatting the card on the camera and you should be good to go from there.

Canon Rebel EOS - Pictures download read Low Resolution

Canon Digital Rebel cameras let you set the image resolution from small jpegs (low resolution) to large jpegs (high resolution) to RAW (best quality, but require post-processing in your computer before you can print them). It's possible that as you were getting to know your camera you accidentally set the image size and quality to a low setting. Now you just need to change it back!

You make this change in the on-screen menu, under the camera menu (first menu, with a camera icon), first item (Quality). Although Canon no longer has the manual for this camera online, you can see This Review Page for more details on where to change this setting on your camera.

you are most probably looking at the pictures from the camera screen.... if you use a CF card reader and view them on the PC through internet explorer or any other software they will be fine..

You get this error when the files have been changed on the CF card by anything aside from the camera
