Do you have the problem in stereo mode (no suround) Try to disconnect rear speakers and see if you still have the buzzing if you do then disconnect center and check, using only the mains, process of elimination, check your polarity + - on speakers and check the wire.I would double check ALL connections even RCAs

Connecting Digital Audio to yamaha receiver

You've cabled it correctly. But on the TV there are settings for the Digital output, Off, PCM, and Dolby. Make sure you've set this correctly on the TV, and the Receiver.

Surround problem with Yamaha HTR-5930 5.1 Channels Receiver

The signal that comes from most tv's via the optical output is a stereo signal only. That is what your receiver is reading. You would have to manually set your receiver to decode the signal into surround,.

Hi, I bought a Bose acoustimass 16 - 6.1 channel, iam curious to know which receiver is suitable for that.

I would get a receiver that puts out a little less power than the speakers can handle. This will prevent you from blowing them by sending too much power to them, but will still send enough power to make them sound good.
An example would be, if you're speakers have a combined power of 500 watts get a receiver around 495 watts or a little less.

You may need to set up the receiver for your speaker configuration. There should be a setup menu on the receiver, and that will allow you to tell the amp what speakers you are using, and what inputs you are connecting what devices to. You may also need to set your DVD player, cable box and TV for the audio stream you want to use. PCM or Bitstream to be more precise. Also make sure that the sound output is set to Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital and the input signal is in stereo or surround.

Best Wishes.

If you're saying you hooked the Bose speakers directly to the Yamaha's amp instead of the prescribed way through their own bass module - they're cooked.

Yamaha HTR-5170 amplifier shutting off & not powering up

I agree with Jango. Go back to the setup when it last worked. If adding the DLP is the problem, you may have some sort of a ground loop formed between the TV and the receiver. good luck...Rob
