My TS-L632D DVDRW ....

Ok I have a TS-L632D Ver.3 DVDRW drive. It isnt located anywhere in the computer. It powers up but no drive is indicated on my computer, device manager and the firmware that I try to load up...says no drive detected and firmware not compatible with drive. SO I have no idea what to do. I unistalled my hard drive and rebooted I got nothing. I tried to install the firmware...nothing. I am lost and I know that the techs would have a hard time. I have took out the drive and reinserted it and got nothing. So its not located in the device manager, my computer and firmware says no drive detected and firmware not compatible with drive....what shall I do. I have typed up many problems to this and I will have to keep asking and telling you where my progess is going so far.

SOURCE: Inspirion B130 DVDRW drive

On the bottom of the notebook under the DVD drive push the latch to eject the DVD module. Once the module is ejected gently re-insert the module using both thumbs until you hear a click. Your DVD should now be recognized by the computer.

BIOS pages good

ms has an example of each for 10 support there.
but no blue screen told of vast.

w10 does auto self repair if you cold hard boot it 3 time and force the boot to fail 3 times, using power button alone, ask.

you did not say BSOD why, say just blue>?
W10 and older love to BSOD easy for these things.
1:gpu card drive wrong, so remove the card? run on iGPU
2: turn off FAST BOOT, wow, no more BSOD
3: bad DDR2 test them 1 by 1.

Ok Im not getting anywhere....

Here is your product support webpage .
Click on the CD/DVD firmware, download and install.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INSPIRON1300/B130&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

PS You are correct,As long as a player/burner has power attached to it it wil light up and run but this had nothng to do iwith it communicating with the computer. This only had to do with the mechanics of the device.

Ok my inspiron 1300 dvdrw drive isnt....

hah. last time i had this happen it was hardware failure on the cd/dvd drive... i hope this isnt the case!

these drives always have satisfactory drivers in windows itself. in your device manager, (control panel--> system-- hardware tab--device manager), does it show your drive in the right place? or is it below in the yellow question mark category indicating that there's a problem?

from your descrition, it sound a bit like you have a bad disk in there not a bad drive, but that's just a guess at this point.

in the device manager, if you "uninstall" your drive, on reboot, the drivers will be installed again ( I assume you have windows xp?). this may help refresh your drivers...

I remember in an older laptop, I upgraded to windows xp service pack 3, and it was that service pack that made my drive at weird, so i went back to sp2
