Question about Tomtom GO 700 GPS Receiver
Call tomtom and tell them about the lighter adapter. If it's still under warranty, they will send you a new one. I have had a problem with the lighter adapter twice now. I'm beginning to think they have a faulty adapter .....

My daughter had this problem and it actually turned out to be the cigarette lighter connection. The fuse needed changing and bingo all working well now! Check you have a green light on the charger cable going into your cigarette lighter - if you dont its probably the fuse.

If the car charger is OK, it is probably the battery. I had a similar problem - could only get a few minutes of use from my GO 700 under battery power.
The battery though, I regret to say, is not intended for replacement by the user. I did manage to do it, but the excercise is not for the timid! Unless you have some electronics repair experience it is a TT repair facilty job.

My six month old TomTom one lost power. When I try to rersets it came back for an hour and hen shutoff for good. The cigarette adaptor got so hot it started to smell. I tried to run it off internal battery power and wasn't succesful. I opened the box and found a resistor burned I think. The rest looks fine with no sign of overheating. Now, I think the problem must have been with the entry power point. I am not fully sure the device is broken, the battery is gone or that is repairable at all. Any hints as to what is next? Warranty I can't since I lost the original bill of sales. I liked the unit, but I am hesitant about buying another one the same.
