Your computer has a virus that has invaded your email, causing it to "flood" your friends' mailboxes with your mail. Take your computer off-line (for the sake of your friends) and get a good virus program. There are many free ones available online. I like "Avast" and it is free for home use. www.avast.com

How do you down load email addresses from your computer, to install on a new computer?


I have put details of copying over addresses and the emails for both Outlook express and Outlook.Hope this helps.

Outlook Express
In Outlook Express, select File --> Export and select Address book. I recommend that you use a comma-separated values (CSV) format as it's more portable and can be recovered if something happens since it's just a basic text file. Copy that onto the new computer, choose File --> Import, and select the CSV file. That should do it!
Backing up email is more difficult, however.
Here's the basic process in Outlook Express: Under Tools --> Options, click the "maintenance" tab. This will tell you where your email is stored. Now copy all of those files onto your new computer (if you make a CDROM you'll have a nice permanent backup too) and then put them in the exact same folder on the new system (while you aren't running Outlook Express). Restart the app and you should have all your mailboxes intact.
Outlook does have an appropriate archive/restore function too, if you want to try that instead. Under File, select Import/Export. Select "export to a file," then select the mailbox that you want to back up. If your mailboxes are like mine, this will produce a fairly large file, depending on the size of your mailbox. Copy these exported files onto the new computer, then use File --> Import/Export --> Import from a file and you should have the mailboxes on your new system.
Outlook
You'll have to export the Address Book from the computer then import it into Outlook on the new computer
1) On your desktop click File --> Export --> Address Book
2) Select the Comma Seperated Values (Windows) as your output format
3) Select the folder you want to export - in this case Contacts
4) Type a name for your file - example: addresses
5) Be sure there is a checkmark next to Export then click Finish
This is the important part: You'll need to copy or save the file to a flash drive or floppy. Alternatively, you can email the file to yourself or burn on CD if you don't have a floppy or flash drive available. Either way the file needs to be transfered to your new laptop.
1) On your laptop open Outlook and click File --> Import --> Import from another file or program (this varies depending on your version of Outlook)
2) Select Comma Seperated Values (Windows) - the same option you selected when you exported
3) Click Browse to retrieve the file you exported
4) Choose either replace, not to duplicate or duplicate under the options menu
5) Select destination folder - since this is your address book you would click Contacts
6) Be sure there is a checkmark next to Import then click Finish

I cannot get my comcast email contacts switched over to verizon. What should I do?


What email program are you using? That will determine where your contacts are stored, and that will determine your options.

If you are using ComCast's Web-based email system (in your Web browser), you'll either need to import them into a local program like Outlook or Outlook Express, or you'll have to talk to ComCast about exporting them to a .csv file. If you can display a list of them in tabular format on the screen, you may be able to copy-and-paste it into an Excel spreadsheet and then save that as a .csv file. If you're already using Outlook or Outlook Express, you should be able to just create the new Verizon mailbox and retain your existing contacts. If you can get them as a .csv file, you can either import that into Outlook or Outlook Express, or you can talk to Verizon about importing it into their Web-based email system.

Same email over and over again


If you have a web interface to your mailbox available, log into your mailbox
on the server and see if you actually received the message multiple times.
If you get multiple copies in the mailbox, then Outlook is correct to
download multiple copies and the problem lies with the sender, not with you.

If, however, there's only a single copy on the server, but Outlook continues
to download it, then there are several ways to address the issue.

It can also happen if the Outlook Master Index files has become corrupted.

Try configuring a new profile for yourself and see if it works.

Mail box nearly full, need to reduce contents of mailbox


If your mail has an Archiving capability you can go that route or you may have to copy and paste it to a folder on your HDD. It really depends on what mail you use!

Hi read my other post.

1) JCV locked file to prevent changes.

2) Download a demo copy of "snagit"

3) Screen capture manual on page at a time, save as JPG.

I have done this already if you send me your email.

4) Drag the 72 jpegs into ABBYY Soft OCR

5) Adjust borders of picture objects and text objects manually as needed.

6) To create a new object just drag a window over the graphic.

7) To edit an object or change its type: Text, Picture, Table, UNknown
just right click on it

8) One you like what you see, save it as a word document.

9) NO you can start translating the text as I told you before.

As I said I have the 72 JPEG files and a less then perfect DOC file,
which I can email to you, probiding the files will fit in your mailbox.

Have you cleared your SENT items?

Also, it you post what EMail program you are using, and the email provoder you are having the problem with, we may be able to give you more detailed information.

Pls check if if you have enough free space in the mail box as the sent mails will also be counted towards the size.
Pls delete unwanted mails and also sent mails.
Pls check with the mail server settings i.e. incoming mail server and outgoing mail server information.
