I just got a 360 that when turned on the green light flashes quickly and dashboard shows "opening" but the tray doesn't open. When I push the eject button the tray doesn't open but I can hear the motor cycle as if it was opening then closing. If I use a paper clip to open the tray then push eject the tray closes normally but "opening" still is displayed on the dashboard. I have checked the power and SATA cable and they are seated. Anyone else had this happen and know of a fix short of replacing the drive? I can buy a new drive for around $30 but prefer not to do the flash thing, I would be comfortable buying a new drive and swapping out the board with my existing board but I'm not sure that will solve this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: XBOX 360 green light flashing....
Its the drive. Most of the problems with the drive not opening is the belt slipping inside. If you can find a new belt for the motor then change it. Otherwise I would Swap out the board to the new drive and it should solve your problem.

The flashing lights on the outside of the green power button are the status lights for any connected controllers. Just turn on one of your wireless controllers and the green status lights should come on. If you turn on a controller and it doesn't automatically connect, press the connect button the top of the controller and front of the Xbox at the same time. This should connect the controller.
Hi when the power button flashes red if you hold down the little round white button under the dvd tray and keep holding it down then press the open button for dvd then it will flash a number of lights write this down. it will be flashing 1 2 3 or 4 lights so write it down then hold down the white button again and press the draw open button again and write down how many again. do this 4 times all together and tell me what code it has given you then i can tell you exactly what the problem is
so for instance you hold down the little white wireless button and keep holding it down then press the open button for the dvd tray and say 4 lights are flashin so write down 4 then hold white button down again and press open button again it may flash 4 again then do it again and it may flash 2 lights then again and it may flash 2 again
when you have gotten these 4 codes post me a message and tell me exactly what they tell you and in the correct order so it may look like this 4 lights flashing 2 lights flashing 1 light flashing 2 lights flashing
if you look at where the button is where you turn it on well you have the green light in the middle well around this is four outer lights that light up red their are 4 of these 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom either side of the green light, their the ones that flash green when its spinning rounf with green lights so write this code down then ill be able to tell you exactly what the fault is ok
Hello. This is most likely due to a failing hard drive. Those hard drives have a limited warranty, so check xbox.com/support for more details. You may be able to have Microsoft replace it for free. Thanks!
well i had the same problem with my xbox is i opened the faceplate and pressed the button and if that doesnt work u will have to wiggle it around a little bit if it comes out what u need to do is take some WD-40 and spray some on a cloth or something to wipe the sides of the tray and the silver part of the tray and open and close it a couple of times if it opens and closes put the faceplate back on and it should open and close now
