Question about eMachines M6811 Notebook
The screen on my laptop (emachines M5405) is broken (went dead),,, Best Buy Geeks told me it would cost $1,100 to replace the screen! I simply connected the laptop to an external monitor and I'm back in business (albeit it's now a desktop). I want to remove the laptop screen completely so that the laptop can fit comfortably in front on the external monitor. Can it be reomoved? And if so, how?
The laptop screen is secured to the laptop with screws at the hinges.
There are usually two screws per hinge. The LCD screen has one ribbon cable and possibly a power connector for the back lighting attached to the motherboard near the hinges. Disconnect these, they are under the plastic panel next to the hinges.
