On the underside you will find four small plastic plugs that are almost flush with the housing. There are philips screws underneath those plugs.

You can see the gear set here: http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/applianceshvac/help-center/mixers/parts/images/Large/KHM3WH-SECTION.gif

Unfortunately they do not carry the part any longer.

KitchenAid hand mixer model#KHM5AP beaters hit each other

I have never seen one of these mixers myself but from your description it sounds like the gears are out of timing. Plugs covering screws often get damaged on removal, they are pretty but not really a necessary part. If you cannot get something sharp down the side to flick it out you will need to skewer a hole in the middle to get a bit more leverage on it. When you have changed the gear timing check that the beaters miss each other before you put the screws back in.

I fixed mine (my wife's). Kitchenaid 3-Speed Hand Mixer KHM3WH. Here's how I did it.
This is a pretty old mixer. My wife bought it at a thrift store for $1. She brought it home, we found the beaters and whisk beaters on eBay. Paid $34.00 for both sets of beaters, but when we received them we found they would not stay in the mixer. Oh we also bought the alternative/replacement beaters from Sears, parts online. I don't think those will work with my fix. However with some $0.92 rubber washers from Lowe's and a heavy duty paperclip I fixed the mixer, and it works flawlessly. Maybe some stainless steel wire would be a better, more permanent fix.

I need the beaters for the Bravetti 300W hand mixer

I realize this is an old post however I have the same issue. The mixer in my opinion is the BEST on the market, or was as the case is. I found that Kitchenaid hand mixer beaters are very similar and work as well as orignals.

I have a kitchenaid ultra power 5-spped hand mixer model khm5twh. the second beater will not stay in the socket. i'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong or if the locking mechanism has given up.

You're not doing anything wrong, the retaining gear probably has one side that is broken and it will no longer lock the beater in place. I have the same mixer and the same problem.I have searched at least 20 web sites that carry Kitchenaid repair parts and the part is no longer available. My best suggestion would be to try a local small appliance repair shop that might have the part on hand.

Hi. Before you take your mixer apart, take a multimeter and test for continuity in the cord. Wiggle the ends of the cord while you're doing this in an attempt to make the cord fail. If it tests out OK, then you must get inside the mixer. If you have the ability to repair the mixer then do so, otherwise take it to a repair place for them to check it out.

Goto www.kitchenaid.com, enter your model # and search for the parts catalog for your mixer. Download the info. This will help you with the project
