Question about Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Web Cam
Dell Studio 540
Vista Home Premium
QuickCam Software installation v11.8
I recently purchased a new Dell computer and found I needed a new Webcam for Vista compatibility, so purchased the Logitech PRO 9000. Surprisingly, I have not been able to successfully install the drivers.
The installation instructions are explicit about not plugging in the Webcam until the installation software says to do that. At the point in the installation when it says to plug the web cam into the USB, there is a window saying "waiting for connection", and sure enough another window pops up with "found new hardware" then a message "locating and installing driver software" and "downloading from windows update". Unfortunately, it does not appear to be looking for drivers from the install CD and shortly after there is a message "installing device driver software" followed by "unidentified device" and "Failed".
I have uninstalled the Logitech software and tried again at least 3 times without success. I also found one other thread on a website with someone else that seemed to have a similar problem. Hope you can help suggest what the problem might be and a solution.
Click off on the FOUND NEW HARDWARE and continue the installation.
If you have further problems, let me know and I'll assist you to get it going.
Hope this helps. Bud
