Question about Dynex 802.11g Wireless-G Laptop Card

2 Answers

Hello, I just installed the Dynex wireless LAN 802.11g Enhanced Notebook and Desktop Card.  It was successfully installed and shows that it is working properly.  Driver installed successfully too.  I am able to make a connection, however when I try to open up internet explorer I get a Cannot find server or DNS error.  My computer is a Toshiba SatellitePro 4200 laptop with Windows 2000.  Any advice?

Try to check the connection in the router if you have any... check if your laptop recognizes the router, if you don't have a router unplug your internet connection, reboot your laptop and try to connect again.

I am not sure, but you may have to set up the browser to use the internet card to use it for internet.

Good Luck!

Windows 2000 is too dang old to run new software and hardware.

    Get XP or Vista.

But don't get Vista because it slows down the computer and is too much like big brother.

    So get XP.

SOURCE: DNS error when trying to connect to internet

1- Try setting your own DNS server settings, right click on your network connection > properties > TCPIP v4 > edit DNS settings ( use dyndns.com as a dns for example).
2- Try refreshing your DNS cache:
start > run > cmd > and type: ipconfig /flushdns

Hope it helps !
