On Thinkpads laptops the keys on the right hand side double up as the number keypad. To switch on the Number lock key pad on - press and hold the Shift key and press the NumLk/ScrLk key, it is above the F11 key, the Num lock LED will also light up. Press these keys again to turn off the Numer Lock.

This screen should have a 30 second count down, then start Windows normally. If yours doesn't do this, then she may have keyed the automated recovery and interrupter it causing an operating system error or glitch. If this is the case you will need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If it does start Windows after the count down, then run a system restore. One of these will take care of your problem. Also, there is no locking command for the touch pad or enter key.
