Question about Heating & Cooling
I've lost the manual and now have a symbol coming up that I don't understand, might be that I have to empty the water try at the bottom. Also not sure if I should be running this with the windows slightly open like evaporative aircons. Is there anywhere I can get another copy of the manual and can you help me make sure this is running at its best.
Just had our 10 day over 40 dec C!!

Hi Leanne,Bung stays in and you dont take it out until the red light (4th on right on top of unit) comes on, then you empty it taking bung out and use tube to get the water out. It will probably take some time (days of continuous operation) for the light to come on, depending on your humidity etc. For easy emptying, wheel the unit to a bathroom or outside where if it spills a bit it won't matter.
Ours is working okay although it just stopped blowing cold air and is only blowing room temp air. we have guests tonight and its hot! I came here looking for a solution to my prob and found yours!

SOURCE: Instruction Manual
I had the same problem. If you are in Australia, the Dimplex Customer Service number is 1300 6739 033. I phoned and they are mailing me the instructions. Maybe don't say you bought the machine at a garage sale.
If you are not in Australia, try the way I did to get your local customer service number - Google the product number and go to the Dimplex website, and there should be a "Contact Us' button with a phone number or mailing address.

1. Do not set the aircon too low temperature in overcast weather, this will cause ice ups and water dripping. Optimal comfort zone temperature is 24c.
2. You need to open the grill cover on the front of the aircon which unclips either end left and right with a finger pressure. You will find two filters which can slide out and should be cleaned. First tap them together to remove dust, then you can wash them with mild soap and cold water.
3. There is the third possibility that an insect has made a nest in the drainpipe. You should look on the outside of the building and locate a plastic drainpipe. You can either blow into this pipe with your mouth or get a blower. This will unblock any restriction in the drainpipe.
Goodluck and ratemeplease.

The evaporator button turns on what is similar to a conveyor belt on
the back of the unit. The two rollers, one at the bottom of the tank
and the other is above the blower, is just like a conveyor belt, but
instead of a black belt it's a white absorbent cloth. When turned on
the rollers start moving the white cloth in a rotation into the tank at
the bottom that is filled with water and two ice packs (you get 4 w/
it) and I put in a tray of ice cubes at night. . As it goes down into
the tank it absorbs cold water and as it goes up the blower is drawing
in cold liquid molecules from the white cloth, then the cold liquid
molecules are drawn through the blower and out the front of the unit.
This conveyor system does remove so you can remove the tank to add or
change the water. This is also a filter on the back. When the
Evaporator is off the conveyor just is not on. I hope I made any
sense, lol. I am not a technical writer and spent 15 mins trying to
explain it. I hope I helped.
I just purchased one at WalMart. I realllly like it. I have a room w/ no windows. One little air conditioner at the end of the apartment so I get none of the cold air. I heard about this so I got it. I love it! At night I don't have to have all these fans that stiffen my neck and makes it sound like I am in a airplanes turbine. Just this baby with two frozen packs at a time. I put a tray of ice cubes also at night. You do not feel water on you but it's definetly much cooler then a fan. Especially in humid conditions. People who say it sucks or does not work. They probably expected to get a stand alone air conditioner for $80 instead of $300.
The customer service # that came w/ mine is 866-876-4332 9-5 cst M-F or MideaUSA@aol.com
