It could have fingerprints and scratch marks and that could be the white if not decrease the brightness.

The screen has gone blank!!

Charge the Walkman fully. To charge the battery of the Walkman fully keep it plugged in to the Computer for 4 hours.

Reset the Walkman by pressing the RESET button that is located at the bottom.

You can use any sharp pointed object to press the reset button.

If the issue persists then Walkman may require service.

I bought a NWZ-E 436F mp3 player for my daughter's birthday and we can't get it to work at all. When we put the cd in the drive, nothing comes up on the screen.

The Sony walkman is a good mp3 player. I do not use the CD that came with mine, I went to Sony and downloaded a program called Media Manager for Walkman. Go to this site and download the Manager. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWZE436F&SelectOS=27
