1999 4.0L Jeep Grand Cherokee shuts down after 20-30 minutes.

I have a 1999 4.0L Jeep Grand Cherokee. The engine starts fine, but after 20 - 30 minutes of run time the motor dies and will not restart until the vehicle sits and cools completely down. Then it starts right up and runs another 20 - 30 minutes and shuts down. No other problems. Everything else works fine.

We have replaced several items and nothing has fixed the problem. Sometimes it starts right back up and shuts down several times and other times you have to let it set for sometime before it will restart. Vehicle runs fine when running, but shuts down without warning.

Vehicle shuts down without warning and sometimes will not start back up for sometime. Sometimes if starts back up and shuts right back down several times. It will also miss real bad just before shutting down but most of the time it shuts down without any warning. Sometimes it throws several different codes and sometimes doesn't throw any codes. The vehicle runs fine when it is running. The problem is becoming more frequent with time.

I'd suggest the ignition control module, however I'd have a certified mechanic check it out just in case...

If the crank sensor is failing, you should get a check engine light and a trouble code for it.
Have you had the computer checked for trouble codes ?

My jeep grand Cherokee will shut off and all the gauge on dashboard turn on

It could be the O2 sensor and the camshaft sensor. I have the same Jeep and having the same issues. Auto Parts stores have the sensor, just need to find a good mechanic that wont over charge you. When you do, ask then to run the codes to make sure.
