a few months ago a roomy downloaded a virus on my computer. I had to hire a guy to come and clean the virus. he did this by first backing up everything on my computer onto discs, then when he was finished he was loading everything back. problem is, his laptop battery went dead before all of the programs were re-loaded.
OK, so I know NOTHING about computer hardware.....but I am having a hard time figuring out why I can view any kind of media from the internet as well as listening to and even ripping CD's.......but when I put in a DVD (which I used to watch on my computer ALWAYS) it says I don't have a driver??????
Question......how can I get this driver? The tech was supposed to come back and put the rest of the stuff back on my computer, but now I can't find his # anywhere. HELP I'm not even really sure what it is I should be looking for. I have an updated Real player and also a Windows Media player. I USED to have PowerDVD....maybe this is what's missing???

- Well, it looks like this is the problem, then. I have a blue Dell disc that says drivers and utilities, but I think it's for the Printer. The other Dell disc is for the monitor.
Then I have discs for Microsoft Works Suite, McAfee Install disc and a photo explosion. That's it....

Well when something like that happens there are a couple of ways of handling it..his was not the best but you can't do anything about that now..but there are two classes of data he backed up, your personal data, docs, pics, music, email, etc. Then there is the operating system disc which should have come with your computer. That is the one that has all the drivers and special programs on it like PowerDVD. Let me know if you have that DVD, the operating system, I can walk you through it...

Nothing that says Operating System or recovery that's not good. Go ahead and load all three of the disc. You may get lucky. The drivers and utilities normally as all of the drivers but its hard to tell without being there...You will not hurt anything by loading all three. Then I will walk you thru making a backup disc, because as of right now if your if your system crashed you have nothing to reload
it with..I'll stay with you until we got it right..
