It should say on the tag inside the cabinet, or on the gas valve. Another indicator is that natural gas typically is fed through a 3/4" galvanized pipe, LP is often run through a 1/2" copper pipe. Be sure before trying to fire it up.

SOURCE: Millivolt pool heater will not ignite

Most heaters do not require power for the pilot to remain lit. Is there power at he unit? If it worked yesterday and not today has anyone turned it off at the circuit breaker? If you have power turn the gas valve off for 10 minuets and then relight to see if it needed a reset.

SOURCE: (natural gas) the heater comes on for 3-5 minutes

Check your high limit switch inside of the heater. Usually when the high limit switch pops it will take about 4 to 6 hours for it to reset itself without you resetting the system.

Hayward H series propane pool heater, how do I convert to gas?.

I used to be able to get it through my supplier but the link is now dead and shows product not available. I am sure you can get this through Hayward direct. The last kit I bought was around $200 (my cost, not retail). As for a used kit, I seriously doubt that is an option.

Is there any difference in bottle gas heater and natural gas heater

by bottle i am assuming you mean propane. yes there is a difference , natural gas is mostly methane gas (ch4) a very small molecule, propane is (c3h8) a much larger molecule. so they require different gas nozzles and cannot run a unit on the other fuel, some can be converted to run other gas. generally natural gas units are cheaper to run, but cost more for installation as a gas line has to be run to the unit and benefit of not running out of fuel. hope this helps.
