Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player
Well you can try this if you still got the zen, press the reste button, dont hold just press it then hold down the power button and it will start up but mine just kept on going black fter a while so i had to put it into recovery mode by doing the following.
Hold down play untill the end
Press the reset button
Hold down the power button
Makes sure you releas the play button last
after that do Reload Firmware i think
then it will delete the firmware make sure you have this downloaded on your computer
its the newest firmware
when you downloaded this plug in your zen into the computer and it should turn on your zen and then say Firmware problem and if it doesnt just put it into recovery mode then plug it in.
Then make sure all application are turned off like Mozzila or the Internet Explorer, then just double click on the firmware and it should fix

Yes, probably a combination of a nasty bug and the battery running out.
When it doesnt turn back on, doesnt connect to PC and reset hole doesnt work either, plug into AC charger. Sometimes this is the only way you can bring it back to life - it should enter recovery mode automatically with the AC charger - once it does, select reboot and see what happens.

The same thing happened to me, and I found the problem by accident: it means that your zen is out of battery. I left mine attached to my laptop, left and came back 30 minutes later to find it turned on, charging, and "docked." You just need to hook it up, and wait. If it doesn't work, then try resetting it.

That happened to me the second day I used my zen. I just let the battery run out (until the blue light was turned off) and then plugged it into my pc. One night later it was ok again. Sadly this has happened again today (I bought it the 2nd). This seems like a recurrent problem when I plugged it into my pc.

SOURCE: ZEN NOT CHARGING
here, this is what I did to fix this problem. copy and paste from my original post on anythingbutipod.com
"My player is completely charged, I have XP w/SP2 - I can turn it on and listen to the default audio tracks and videos...I just can't get my computer to recognize it AT ALL!"
also, when I try to allow "everyone" to the USB....I found that in the advanced section I have TWO "everyones".
The one that says "full control" says "not inherited" in the inherited from column...the other says "read" and "machine\system\currentcontrolset......."
Should there be two of them in there??? Because when I try and switch the read to full control, it reverts back as soon as I select apply or ok....I tried deleting it but it re-creates itself soon as I go out of the window.
so I was told to do this:
Sounds like an NT problem. I don't know the exact steps to do this, but you'll need to remove inheritable permissions from that, which will remove the "inherited" attribute, leaving the locally-controllable one.
So open "run" command in the start menu and type "regedit"
From there follow this path...
"hkey_current_config" -> system -> current control set -> Enum -> USB
Do what I copy and pasted above and then plug your Zen V:M in and it should recognize it.
