Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.
TY-LA1001 Timer reset
While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.
It could be you need a new lamp again (your might have gotten a defective one) or "temp" is the temperature sensor that is located on top of you lamp, could be bad also. If the lamp gets too hot, the temperature sensor will shut down you lamp so your TV will not catch on fire. If your temperature sensor has gone bad, your lamp will not turn on at all.
you neeed to change the lamp. the access is located on the right side of the television. you can buy the lamp for about $125 from discount-merchant.com
same problem. TV turns on but no picture or sound. when i press power button on the remote control orange light flashes for about a minute and goes back to red.
TV won't turn on. It iz frustating me a lot ay !
its probably pretty close to time at 18 months and they often give no warning, I believe the orange light on an LG is just the lamp timer which really just counts hours. Pull the lamp out and look at it they often physically break inside and it is obvious
i get sound on my television but no picture. If it is the lamp that is burnt out, which one do I get
