How do I access the pull cord on an Ariens 911072 to replace it?

If housing has screws you take the screws out and take the housing off but if the housing has rivets you take a small drill bit and a cordless or electric drill and drill the rivets out being careful not to make the rivet holes any bigger. Take the housing off and replace the cord then get some same size rivets and a rivet gun and replace the housing riveting it back on. Make sure the housing goes back on the same way it came out.

This demolition hammer will make the sound like is rotating inside to do the hammering motion, but the shank doesn't do anything at all. what could cause this problem? Thanks.

Large hammers have an air driven piston (an air cushion betweem pistons) and an intermediate anvil that actually hammers on bit. If the cylinder and air cushion piston are dry there will not be enough suction/pressure between the driver piston and driven. Remove lower part of hammer and lube with electric hammer grease. Make sure that orings fit snuggly and the anvil is not jammed. Do not store hammer with the bit pointing up because the driven piston will slide down cylinder and hug driver piston. If the hammer was stored pointing up, turn hammer around and place in stand with nose down in a warm location so that the driver piston will drop into place. Good holidays

When changing front rotors on a 67 vette should you rerivet rotor to hub? and can you just press the rivits to hold hub to rotor ..And how much should press rivets?

My Chilton book only goes back to 1968 but it describes a Delco-Moraine opposed piston disc brake set up for Corvettes up til 1973. According to them all 4 rotors are riveted on at the factory. They say " When a disc must be replaced, the rivets can be drilled out and then the wheel studs will be used for disc retention purposes." Hope this helps.

Loud knocking noise from the engine the hotter the engine gets the louder

loud knocking is usually a piston problem[wrist pin-piston-piston rings -rod bent damaged-crank -bearing ]piston hitting valve pull plugs and check for fouling it will narrow down area do compression test but knock usually doesnt last long before engine usually goes south other which u can hope for and can sound like a knock would be the exhaust gasket good luck

Hello iv changed the piston on my kids honda xr 50 now it wont kick over i can move the piston through the head pulling the small chain in the cylinder head about 2 turns of the coge the opposite way to...

It sounds like you have not set the cam chain timing. If the cam is not timed to the piston position, the piston can come up and hit an open valve. If you put the engine together and kicked it over so the kick jammed then the piston has hit an open valve and chances are very strong that the valve is now bent. Bummer... If bent badly enough the valve guide may be cracked as well. Double bummer... I would pull the head off and do a visual inspection of the valves. Do they LOOK fully closed? Can you see a strike mark on the top of the piston? If all looks good, I would put the head back on then set the cam timing then turn the flywheel over by hand a full four revolutions. If it doesnt bind up you should gently push the kick lever to turn the engine over a few times. Okay, the piston doesn't seem to be hittinng a valve. Now do a compression check. You want to have 130 to 160 psi. If you do, the valves are okay. Get back to me by posting a comment if you don't know how to set the cam timing. The following diagram may be self explanitory. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

After getiing my puma back?the engine now smokes and there no compression in number 2 piston is my engine dead?

You have this listed under 2001 Ford Focus, but say it's a Puma and also reference the #2 piston. Based on that, I'm going to assume you mean an Arctic Cat Puma snowmobile. If so, Pop the head off (4 nuts) and if it's the gasket, you'll see where it's blown out. Get a new gasket, pop the head back on and tighten it back up. If it's the piston or rings, you'll be able to tell when you pull the head. If the piston has a hole or melted down from a lean condition, you'll see it. If the rings are shot, you may see some scoring on the cylinder wall. You might also be able to tell by the spark plug. Pull it and check for a silvery residue. If the piston burned, it will sometimes leave a silver (aluminum) film on the plug. A whiteish plug means lean which could cause the head gasket or piston problem as well. A dark (brownish, blackish) plug means it was running rich and your piston "should" be ok. Again, best bet would be to pull the head and check everything out.
