Question about General Electric GE 13-438 Overhead Garage Door Switch

1 Answer

Opened my garage door remote and now it doesnt work

I opened up the garage door remote to retrieve the code so I could program an additional one. I put the cover back on the original remote and it didn't work. Everything was working fine before I removed the cover to get the code (which I was very careful in doing and didn't change or touch anything on the inside). Now the remote doesn't work at all. It shows a red light when I press on the button. I park underground in a multi stall lot in my apartment complex. About 10 people have the same remote to the same door and everyone's is working.
I have no idea what to do and it's really annoying to have to get out of my car to manually open the door each morning I leave and evening I return. I appreciate any help.

Inside the remote are little switches. Make sure the little switches are in the correct position. Sometimes they are the same as the code?

Why won't Chamberlain 1040-6 garage door opener open or close?

In addition to the ANT suggestion, are you able to open/close the door with the button first? And then check the 12-volt battery in the remote control.

Work-around: Modern cars have the ability to learn the motor's code. Then I use the built-in openers on my cars to open the garage door as work-around. All you have to do is initiate the learning process by pressing a button on the motor, and then keep pressing your built-in opener's button until the light becomes steady. Try to let your car stay as close to the motor as possible.

Good luck!

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR REMOTE IS THE SAME FREQUENCY AS THE EXISTING UNITS.

IF YOU LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE REMOTE THERE SHOULD BE A FREQ# IF THEY ARE NOT THE SAME YOU NEED TO EXCHANGE THE REMOTE.

I would recommend this. I'm not sure this will work, but I think it will.
Try starting from scratch. Reprogram the unit to the car again, I think the codes change each time it is done. If not, it's not too difficult to try.

Opener will not recieve programing instructions from the keypad.

There should be a button on the back of the door opener that says "teach" or "learn". Push that button, a light comes on and you have about 30 seconds to program the control by holding it near the unit and holding the remote button down. The opener will then learn the code from the remote.

I have 2 liftmaster 3245. The hand held remotes were working fine then stopped. I replaced the batteries and turned of all electrical/RIF close by. Still not working. Both cars operate the doors with no...

You need to reprogram the remotes by briefly pushing the learn button on the garage door opener until it flashes once, then release the button on the garage door opener.

Now press the remote button once until you hear the garage door opener click, now press the remote button once again and the remote should be programmed to work for that garage door opener.

DO NOT press and hold the garage door opener learn button for more than 10 seconds or you'll erase all programs and have to relearn all the remotes, including your car ones.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards.

Garage door opener will not respond to security plus remotes

Reset the Liftmaster unit. There should be a red reset button on the unit in the garage. If this does not work, reset the breaker. Good Luck!

Liftmaster Professional and Clicker Programming Problems

after you press the button on the back of your operator you then push the button that you want to open the door with on your remote. The light should blink telling you that it has taken the code and things should work. Also sometimes the little numbers from 1 to 10 or 9 get sticky just move them back and forth and check to see that there all the way up or down or in the middle it's something simple like this.
