Question about LG WM-1832C Front Load Washer
When you turn on the washer the water comes in but when it is suppose to spin a bit it just hums.
I had the same problem and it was a bad sensor assembly (#6501KW2002A). You can order
it from an online electronics store (www.mcminone.com). Cost is approx. $20.
I fixed it based on a thread from 2007:
But, here's what I did:
1. Unplug the machine.
2. Take off the back plate that has 4 small screws.
3. Unscrew the big bolt in the middle.
4. Take off the hubcap looking part the bolt was securing.
5. Unclip the two sets of wires on the bottom of the circle you are looking at
(the set of wires to the right are connected to the sensor assembly you want to replace).
6. Unscrew the 6 smaller bolts to take off the circular piece that the sensor assembly is snapped to.
7. Mark with a pen where the sensor attaches so you know where to snap the new one.
8. Unclip the old sensor assembly and clip on the new one

The nine step fix above worked like a charm. The part and two-day shipping ($18) cost a total of just under $40. The repair center wanted $100 just to come out to figure out the problem, w/o parts and labour. Three quick notes to the fix above. First, the large bolt mentioned in step three is not coming off without a wrech and hammer. You cannot just unscrew this bolt. If you have a rachet, your still going to have to hammer as the tub turns with the bolt. Second, the six bolts in step six will strip quickly with a wrench. Hopefully you have a rachet of the corect size. It could still be done with a wrech, but go slow. Lastly, I could not get the set of wires on the left to unhook, but it wasnt neccessary. You just have to be really carefull. After you disconnect the wires from the sensor on the right side, fold down the coils and remove the sensor by uncliping it. The sensor your replacing will have TWO snaps when you replace it. Frankly, you could still complete this process without my notes as I did, just go slow, and be methodical. This is an EASY fix. Good luck!

Your step by step instruction was right on. Following your steps, I replaced the censor and the washer works great. Kudos to you.

Thanks for the info. My problem statement is spot on with the others. My machine fills, agitates, drains, but won't spin. What's wosre is that if we have a load of heavy stuff, it eventually gets so overloaded, that it won't even agitate. I assume this would give me the LEthat others are seeing, but I am never there before it powers down. I only see it sitting there with the water still in the drum, which gives the false symptom of a drain issue.
I will be attempting this fix as soon as the part comes in. There is also a high quality YouTube video for replacing this. The tech removes the big bolt by manually spinning the drum and using its torque to help loosen the bolt.
Go to You Tube and look up LG/Kenmore Washer Motor Sensor (part# 6501KW2002A). I will update and let you know how this worked for me.
