After starting it runs only seconds then cuts off

Compustar monitors your vehicle's engine to validate remote start activity. In the event your engine cannot be detected, the remote start operation will be cancelled after (3) three unsuccessful attempts. Additionally, you could receive error 8, error 08, or even error 01 on your LCD remote when you have this issue.
  1. Start your vehicle's engine with the key.
  2. Press and hold the foot brake down.
  3. While keeping your foot on the brake, press the KEY or remote start button button for 3 seconds.
  4. Release the foot brake and remove the key from the ignition.
If you continue to experience failed remote start attempts, please contact your original installer or authorised dealer for assistance with this issue.

Why does my remote starter try (cranks over engine) to start the car but all of the sudden can't

Need to know make model and year. There are too many variables?
Did you get an extra key made?
did you blow a fuse?
Is it a transponder equipped car? if yes how was the bypass-emulation done?
Is your security light flashing when you try to remote start your car?

Avital remote start works to star engine, without the remote start it will not start.

You probably have a bad ignition switch that's why the remote start will work it replicates what the ignition switch does,or you have a coded key and had a new key made and not programed the remote start module has this code stored so it can send the car the code when remote started. What year make and model is the car?

I installed prostart remote starter in 2002 Sonoma, used xpresskit bypass module to bypass passlock 2, truck started with remote ,now won;t start with remote, have to reset and start with truck key

If you are sure that everything is connected properly, then the only explanation could the ground when running from the remote starter to the bypass. If you are using data to data(D2D), switch over to wire to wire. Test the ground when running connection from the remote starter (white) to the ground when running connection of the Xpresskit (blue). You could even go so far as to connect the ground when running of the bypass to constant ground for the test. You CANNOT leave this wire connected to chassis ground.
Also, that vehicle has a second ignition wire(white) that MUST BE power up for remote start. If not, it will trigger the check engine light.

I live in Michigan. I have a Viper remote start and security system. When the temperature is below 30 degrees I have the following problem. When I try to remote start my vehicle, it starts, runs for 2-3...

The remote start has has a status option for it to know when the car has started and for it to keep it running. Most techs do it the lazy way and just set the option to voltage sense. You have to have a tech hook up the tach wire to the remote start and then program it for tach sense.

Added remote starter on vw jetta 2004

No, this is not correct, did you have to give up a key, or did he use a bypass module, either way, you can check next time it won't start by putting your key into the ignition and leaving it in the off position, then try to remote start it, if it starts then your installer needs to reposition the transponder loop around the ign switch or reposition the "key in the box"

I am installing a Audiovox Car APS787A start keyless and alarm in a 96 taurus and i was wondering if there is any adapters or special tools needed

you might need a ford pats key bypass module for this. The way to tell is if your key is a thin black butted key or has a thick black casing on the end of it. if it has the thick casing then you will need one.

Engine cranks will start fine with key remote will not start it

Did it ever work as far as you Know? Some vehicles have a coded key and if the key is not in the ignition at the time the remote is activated it will not start. Some systems have a key hidden in the system and some have a bypass. It is hard for me to tell you which you have as not being the installer. You may have to contact Avital or go to thier web site for more detailed info.
