Skype needs to be configured for people to see you.
Open Skype, Click on Tools tab, then Options, then Video Settings.
Select the WEB camera from the pull down list and click on your WEB cam.
Tick Enable Skype video
Tick Start my video automatically when I am in a call
In Automatically receive video from - select anyone or only people in my Contact List.
In Show that I have Video to - select People in my Contact List
Then Click on Save.
In the Audio Settings - make sure you have selected the correct mic. and the other settings, don't forget to save.
Close Skype - now when you receive a call or when you call someone they should noe see you.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

If you don't see the person you are chatting with on Skype, the issue is probably on their hardware. You do need to "Enable Video Call" from the Skype app's Menu after initiating a video call. If you aren't seen on the other party's side of the call, then it's your device settings that must be adjusted.
Does your tablet have a front-facing camera and Android version 2.3 or better? (The M18A is listed as having Android 4.0) If so, then you should be able to video chat with the Skype app. When you use the rear-facing camera, obviously there are issues with the other party seeing you.
If you have a front-facing camera, make sure that this is the default camera while the Skype app is closed. Open the default camera app and tap the icon to toggle the front camera interface (if needed). Then switch to video mode. Return to the home screen and open the Skype app. Login and start a video call. Then press Menu (in the app) and "Enable Video Call".
If this doesn't work, you may need the IP Webcam app. This is available at the Play Store. After setting the default camera, set the resolution and the frame capture rate, among other settings. Next, follow the directions for using Skype for a video call.
you should go to internet connections and connect to the wifi of your router. otherwise you should enable the 3G capabilities of your mobile. Your provider must show you the settings so you can connect to the internet.
The Nokia N900 does not have MMS.
in order to use the video call you should have a google talk account and/or a skype account. the skype account video call works only with software version PR1.2 of maemo. in both cases you AND the other person you are calling should have google talk or skype with camera.
thank you :-)
First check that your isight camera is working by going to applications and selecting the application photo booth. If your isight is working you will see yourself in the photobooth window. Now if it is working open skype, first check that you have the latest version of skype by going to the skype menu and then check for updates. Once you have the latest version go to the skype menu again then preferences then under the video make sure that the enable Skype video checkbox is checked and you can check the start my video automatically checkbox as well. Then close the preferences window. Hope this helps.
Before you can use your webcam in any chat program you have to configure it to that program
Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
working OK ?
CONFIGURE TO SKYPE Connect webcam Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly. The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software. If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Start Skype. On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'. In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings' Run down the list setting your defaults Select your webcam as the default microphone. Make a free test call Click 'Save' In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings. This will launch your webcam Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings' Check the correct webcam is shown as default Click Save Test your webcam by making a Skype test call. For more information about how to configure Skype Messenger, please visit the following Skype Web site: http://support.skype.com (http://support.skype.com)
The other party must enable their video facility in Skype in the same way as you did:
e.g. Tools -> Options -> Video Settings and also set 'Show that I have video to' -> tick 'people in my contact list' (if they cannot set it up, then their video capture device is not installed properly on their computer/laptop).
If they cannot see themseve during the video skype setup, then you will also not be able to see their video.
Hope it helps!
With updating SKYPE your firewall must be updated as well. Exit/Close your current Skype by clicking in system try Skype icon (down near the right corner green spot) and choosing “Quit” from there if needed. Open firewall, in programs, deletes Skype. Run Skype and allow connecting This also affects SP2 users who should follow above procedure. With SP2 firewall. Disabling external firewall will enable XP firewall by default. So if you disable any other firewall XP firewall will now block your connections. So remove Skype from XP firewall program list as well
