I have a phillips vcr dvd combo and it won't play dvd+r discs. It says playback may not be available for this disc. I've tried to reformat the movie and use a different burning software but it still says the same thing.

Burn your disc with NERO on option. DVD ISO no multi session.
add the films you wish to burn to disc.after clicking new
Put a dvd-r disc in your computer
click burn. thats all there is to it.
these should play providing your DVD player is compatible and will play DVD and DIVX DISCS.
phillips have just bought a dvd divx player out and it will play anything you put in it. even a flash stick. and they are only £38.00
delivered from amazon.

Some dvd players will only play DVD-R discs or DVD-RW, in this case your system doesn't seem to support DVD+R, although all pc's support both formats.

2 Things 1 You need to Finalize the disc to play of a DVD player check that out with your DVD burn program. 2 Check the DVD players capability with certain discs, not all payers will run 'burned disks' sometimes even the brand of disk matters or whether it is + or- type There are may variables with the DVD firmware. Finalize first the the first step.

I have a Panaonic DMR ES35V and it worked for 7 months; now the DVD-R has disk read error on every disk. Called Panasonic twice in July and again today. They are supposed to get back with me. Still waiting!!! They said it has to be sent in for repairs. Evidently, this is a common problem with Panasonic. The solution for me is NEVER to purchase another Panasonic product ever. I have 3 other panasonic products in my home. For the money I paid for this unit, it was not worth it.

Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Let it try to read. If the disc is still oriented the same way after it fails, odds are 99 out of 100 the motor has failed....sorry, buy a new one if warrantee has run out.

I am trying to use memorex dvd-rw dvd in unit it keeps coming back with disc error please eject the disc playback feature may not be available on this disc. What can i do ?? Thanks Bob.

dvd player will only play movies for the COUNTRY in which you purchased it. There is no way to purchase a system or configure a system to play ALL MEDIA FOR ALL COUNTRIES. The country codes are specific and each country wants to prevent any other country from playing their dvds music, etc.

Dvd player wont play

Make sure that the DVD Disc is of the format that your DVD recorder can read. For example, if your recorder specifically requires a DVD -R type disk, it will puke on a DVD +R disk.

Disc error "playback feature may not be available on this disc"

Hello arnita2211,

This error message is due to an improper format, that your dvd player can't handle. To correct this you need to use a program such as nero and in nero is a program called nero vision, that will recode the movie file into a dvd playable format.

You can download a trial of nero here
http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero9-trial.php
You will have to purchase a license when the trial ends. Sorry we cannot give you a serial key for this as it is Illegal.

Thank you for trying Fixya!

the message you are getting is the machines waay of telling you that it can not read that disc. which means you will have to burn your discs in a different format. or your are using a type of disc it does not recognize.

See the manual, page 8:

What are “Recording modes”? for DVD-RW
There are two recording modes available using this
recorder: VR mode and Video mode. When recording to
a DVD-R disc, recordings are always in Video mode.
DVD-RW discs can be formatted for VR mode recording
or Video mode recording.
VR mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Not playable on regular DVD players
• Recordings can be extensively edited
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Video mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Playable on regular DVD players (after finalizing)
• Limited editing features
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Note :
DVD-Video Format (Video mode) is a new format for
recording on DVD-R/RW discs that was approved by
the DVD Forum in 2000. You may therefore experience
problems playing recordable DVD discs in some players.
Symptoms include video artifacts, audio and/or
video dropouts and playback suddenly stopping.
Our company cannot take responsibility for problems
playing discs recorded on this VCR/DVD Recorder in
other players.

Can I playback my movies on a DVD-ROM drive?

No, DVD-RAM disc recorded on the DVD Camcorder will not play back on every drive. Some of the new DVD-ROM drives designed to be compliant with the new DVD-RAM book2 standards will playback discs recorded on the DVD Camcorder. Many previous DVD-ROM drives on the market that came out before the DVD-RAM standard was released will not play back discs recorded on the DVD Camcorder. HITACHI manufactures DVD-ROM drives for some PC manufactures as OEM products. HITACHI model GD-7500 DVD-ROM has DVD-RAM read/write compatibility.
