When I press the power button on my Yamaha HTR-6130 home theater receiver, it comes on for a millisecond then shuts off. Sometimes it displays "Check SP Cable" but then shuts down. I have checked all of my speaker cables and nothing is crossed and all possitives are matched.

i think the unit needs to be set back to factory defaults
Initializing the HTR 6130
1. Connect the power cable of this unit to the AC outlet.
2. Press the "STANDBY/ON" key while simultaneously pressing the "STRAIGHT" and "AUDIO SELECT" keys.
The self-diagnostic function is activated.
3. Select the main menu "13. FACTORY PRESET".
4. Select the "PRESET RSRV".
Hope this helps
I had similar problem when setting up the YAMAHA remote control for my NEC LCD TV. At the end I found I did not follow the YAMAHA manual properly. Did you hold down the DTV/CBL button, and AT THE SAME TIME press the AV POWER for 3+ seconds? You should be able to "REMOTE SETUP OK" displayed in the front panel of the YAMAHA AV receiver. Hope this helps. BTW, only the TV POWER, TV MUTE and the numeric buttons work in my case.
Swap the rear right speaker to rear left make sure the speakers and speakers wire are OK
Initializer the unit as follow set the unit in STBY mode if you are not sure which mode turn off the unit with the remote control now the unit is in STBY mode. Pressing STRAIGHT and AUDIO SELECT keys simultaneously then press power STBY button on front panel the display will show 1: Analog ByPass use the PROGRAM knob to move up to 13 PRESET INHI then press 1 or 2 keys to change to PRESET RSRV then turn off power now unit reset to factory just turn on and try it
Let me know how do you go
