Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

HDMI port? Is there an HDMI port on my 60V500A? It's about 4-5 years old. I don't see one but i'd like to connect the PS3 to it with an HDMI cable. Thanks

SOURCE: Setting up HDMI / DVI port as a selectable Imput

Do I have to also connect a Audio Cable set with the HDMI or DVI Cable?
Yes, Audio is still separate.

Are the HDMI and DVI ports Bi-Directional?
It goes one-way, Out from the source (DVD Players / some Game Consoles / Sat Receivers), In on the receiving end (Recorders / TV / Projectors).

A Receiver is perfect for your set-up. All Equipments that broadcasts audio/video signals goes into it, then from it goes to whatever Projector / TV you have.

I am unable to get a picture on hdmi when i connect my ps3, but am able to get sound when i use ps3 controller. any ideas ?

Steps
  1. Step 1 Check for an HDMI port Check the back of your television for an HDMI port and refer to your owner's manual for your television's resolution. A resolution of 1080p offers the highest quality.
  2. Most PS3 systems support 1.3 HDMI, but older systems may need a software update from the 1.1 or 1.2 version.
  3. Step 2 Disconnect cables Disconnect all the cables and adapters from the back of your PS3, and then unplug your TV to reduce the risk of shock as you work.
  4. Step 3 Connect HDMI cable Connect the HDMI cable. Reconnect the power cables on both the TV and the PS3 system.
  5. Step 4 Hold power button Hold down the power button until the PS3 beeps and continue holding it for an additional five seconds until the system makes a second beep.
  6. The Playstation 3 should detect the high definition cable and automatically adjust the settings to give you the best picture and sound possible.
  7. Step 5 Test the connection Test the connection. If the HDMI cable isn't working, turn everything off and reconnect the original cables to manually change the settings.
  8. Step 6 Adjust the settings Turn the system back on, select Settings, Display Settings, Video Output Settings, and then HDMI. Repeat the process for your Audio Settings. You can now experience your games with the highest video and audio quality available.

How to connect sony ps3 to toshiba 32av500a

Use any HDMI cable to to this.

Connect cable to the "HDMI" port on the back of the PS3. Connect the other side of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the Toshiba TV. If the Toshiba TV has multiple HDMI ports, make note of which port you plugged the HDMI cable into.
Change the Toshiba TV to its "HDMI" video display mode. Press the "Power" button on the PS3 to turn the console on. The PS3 will automatically detect the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to use the audio and video from the HDMI cable. Select "Yes" to have the PS3 automatically use the optimal settings for the Toshiba TV. Select "Yes" to accept the recommended resolution. Press the "X" button to save the settings

How can I connect PS3 to ACER X110P Projector

does the projector have an HDMI port?
i would buy the cable that is HDMI from the PS3 (unless it has HDMI already)
HDMI converter (HDMI to DVI or VGA) typically don't work well because you are changing the signal from digital to analog through a cable. you want to use a cable that is the same on both ends.

Ive had the same problem with mine. I have a universal remote and a blu ray player separately installed on my tv. The only way i was able to play the ps3 without calling geek squad to reconfigure my tv was to unplug the blu ray and put the ps3 in its spot and push watch bluray. It worked great.

As you already checked PS3 and HDMI cable,
select HDMI input in TV and connect PS3 via HDMI cable. TV should show PS3 picture.
And if still no joy then HDMI input port in TV is bad and need to replace input board/ main board.

PS3 not working on 42'' JVC via HDMI cable port

I have the PS3 and this TV and it works....Try this.

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect HDMI from TV to PS3
3. Select the correct HDMI input on the TV for the PS3(important)
4.Turn OFF PS3 if it is ON.
5. hold [I/O] Power button on PS3
6. Wait about 5 second and you should get the "HDMI Detected" or some similar message.
7. Configure the HDMI output for the PS3

Also, If you set the PS3 to "auto" for hdmi, it may set the resolution to 1080i. You may want to deselect everthing but the 1080P.

I can't be exactly sure without more information, but it sounds like you ps3 is outputting from another port. My ps3 originally was outputting from the component/composite cable port so in order to use the hdmi output I had to do a soft reset. That makes the ps3 sense what cable is plugged into it and automatically output through that port instead of using whatever is the saved setting.

With your ps3 turned on hold down the power button for a few second until it beeps and flashes 3 times (should be about 5 seconds). You might have to try it a few times to get it to work, but you should get picture and be able to adjust the settings on the ps3.
