Question about Kodak ESP 3 Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner

2 Answers

Even with brand new cartridges, the colors aren't even close.

The colors were just fine when I first bought my printer, (ESP 3). now even with brand new cartridges, the colors aren't even close. I cleaned the contacts with a cotton swab dipped in distilled water as I had read this is supposed to be used.

What can I do to get the colors right, again?

This is frustrating.

My ink ran out a few weeks ago, so, when I bought a new set and installed them the ink was not the same, Ive tried cleaning the head with cotton wool buds and I have tried the head cleaner thing through maintenance. Now i had to leave it for a few days and now ive come back to it its saying my ink is empty when there brand new ink cartridges.

You have a defective printhead, call Kodak for a new one.

If you go under the printer settings there should be a maintenence file. Try to clean the heads.

My kodak esp 3 won't doesn't recognize the new black ink we put in

I'm having this same problem with both black and a color cartridge. I see the small scratches, so looks like they are connecting all right. The new cartridges are Kodak brand, so that's not the problem.
I'll try calling them about the print head if that might be the problem.

I have a brand new Kodak ESP 3250. Not one drop of ink color or black, is coming out of the cartridge. And even so, the indicator shows a loss of ink. ! no spills inside. I am absolutely certain the...

Clean the gold section of the print cartridge's with a wet paper towel.
Also clean the gold surfaces where the cartridge meets the printer.
Wipe the contacts clean with a dry paper towel once you get no ink back on the wet paper towels. Allow about an hour for the printer to dry.
Reinstall the cartridges and try printing.

Hope This Helps.

Black printing very faint or not at all, cleaning print head makes little difference Brand new Cartridge

Sometimes it will print faint black even if there is a new black cartridge, because the color cartridge needs to be replaced as well.

Make sure that the cartridges are genuine Kodak cartridges, as well, for maximum performance and reliability.

Cleaning heads can use up a lot of ink, by the way.

USELESS! I guess the life of an ESP 3 is up to a year, because after Kodak replaced my first ESP 3 with a second, I'm now having issues. It's also MOST frustrating that if one cartridge is empty and...

Regarding the empty ink cartridges, ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or viceversa. If you printed with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That's why most printers won't allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren't using it.
If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty.

Regarding the printer not being able to detect the size of the paper, you probably need a firmware update. Here is the support information from Kodak website.

And I have to agree with you, printers don't have a very long life cycle, but you should get at least 2 years out of it! Good luck!

The printer won't print out any of the reds in my images, even when the colour cartridge has just been replaced, and prints any red areas in yellow instead.

Hi is this a new printer? If you've just installed a new color ink, it would prompt you to align the cartridge or print some test page.. If the RED doesnt show on the test page, then try to perform maintenance on it.. Like Clean cartridge or clean print head.. it may be clogged.. if it still does this, try changing the color ink.. If you color ink is from a stock, it may have dried up.. if you bought it just days ago, ask for a replacement.. If all has been done, it maybe the printer itself..

Hope this helps.. :D

I have a ESP 3 all in one printer. I am out of the color cartridge and it will not let me print just using the black cartridge. WHY??????

Different printers will work differently, even within the same brand, like your Kodak Printer for instance.

Some printers will work with a black cartridge only without the color, and some printers need both color and black and white cartridges to be filled in order to work at all.

It's just a design thing.

New Cartridges - not all color ink printing!

It sounds that the ink inside the cartridge has partly dried up.

This can happen to my printer when I don't use it for a couple of months too.

Hope this helps!

Printer cartridges say they are low.

there will be a reset, either software, or on the printer itself, where you inform it that you are installing new cartridges, If you told it the carts. were new, goto the manufacturers website and see if there is a software update under the Support and Drivers/Downloads section that addresses the ink reporting
