I know it sounds weird, but i've spent the past few weeks trying to figure this out. If my monitors are powered on my computer will not boot, turn the monitors on and the system locks up before loading windows. Replaced power supply, harddrive cables, installed a floppy because I thought I might have to flash the BIOS, when monitors are on system will also not boot from the floppy, CD or USB.
I gather now with this discovery of powering the monitors off during boot, that it is the video card that is causing the problem. But I am wondering if it is a software conflict or an actual hardware flaw.
This may not be a video problem at all (hardware or software).
You say your "monitors" and it makes me wonder just how much you have plugged in to each of your power strips. Or extension cor
If you have a UPS, then you can take full advantage of all of the plug ports. BUT if you are using POWER STRIPS (these do NOT protect against power surges), then you need to look at what you have plugged in. Some big devices (system unit or "CPU" as some people call it, printer-especially the AIOs, MONITOR) pull quite a bit of electricity, moreso than speakers, a modem, or other small devices). Sometimes you need to have the big components plugged in to their own power source in order to work. You can't have them plugged together because there's just not enough power to go around.
I would try to spread the power around the room a little more, and then see if the system boots. Don't go rewiring your house, if it does!!! LOL. It's the computer systems we are using these days. I've also had fax machines, routers, and a few other things not want to work because they weren't getting their share of the "juice".

A couple of things spring to mind, but difficult not having the machine.
Upgrade to Windows 10 is automatic and your machine is trying to update and finding a problem. I would not load Windows 10 until Service Pack 1 comes out.
Also sounds if the processor is overheating. When you boot up, you can get into the BIOS, often by tapping Delete, or F10. There is usually a prompt onscreen during boot up. One of the screens in the BIOS tells you the processor temperature. If it rises over 60' you have a problem with cooling. The computer has a fail safe feature to save the processor by shutting down.
Make sure you have the cable that plugs into the back of the computer from the monitor screwed in tight. Also make sure the cable on the back of the monitor is screwed in tight and also that the power cord on the back of the monitor is pushed in all the way.
I'm almost certain you're not in standby mode. Does the computer stay on when you get the no signal message? Do you hear the fan blowing, do you hear the disk drive spinning? If not, I think your system has completely shut down. I'm thinking maybe a virus or some hardware/software conflict is stopping it from completing the boot cycle.
Try getting into the Bios or System Setup to see if the LCD Stays on and the computer stays on. Turn the computer off, then hit the power button to turn it back on. Look at the lcd screen and it will tell you what key to hit to go into the Bios or System Setup. Go into it and let the computer sit for 10 minutes or so to see if it shuts itself off.
If you are successful with the computer staying in the Bios or System Setup lets try getting into Safe Mode and see what happens. Turn the computer off and hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the SAFE MODE option. Select the Safe Mode option and let the system boot up. Safe mode will look different to you. The icons will be bigger and the lcd screen darker, but that's normal. If you are able to see the desktop in safe mode just try opening up MS Word and maybe let it sit for a few minutes to see if it shuts off.
If safe mode was successful, then try booting it normally. If it fails, we know we've got an issue.
I've almost the same problem. When the system turns on the monitor doesn't sync. After a variable trials with down/up the sync is enabled and the computer starts.A very clear event occurs : when the monitor can''t sync ( and system doesn't boot)you can hear very clear a high fan rotation. When I look/hear in the system the Isuspect the cpu fan. The system boots ( monitor syncs) when the fan rotationgoes from high to low. So the system hangs on an internal check on the rotation speed of the cpu fan.I've googled a lot , but until now doesn't find an answer . Possibilties which I think about : replace cpu fan , clean cpu fun ( but it looks clean).I cannot measure the fan rotation speed when the system is hanging. At normal rotation all info can retrieved witth the program cpu-z.Did you already have a solution ?
that beep means POST.. your computer hardware is fine .. please just re install the operating systemm... before that you might want to back up the hard drive data using bartpe or some tools similar to that.. if you dont have that expertise. just re install the operating system .. you should get back to work...

Sounds like you may have the motherboard/power supply problem that plaque a lot of emachines. 1st thing. If it ever boots again, get your data off!. This problem will not get better, only worse. Open up the computer and check the capacitors (they look like tiny soda cans) on your motherboard. If any of them are swollen on top or leaking anything then that is your problem. If they all are perfectly flat then your power supply may be dying. Swapping out a power supply is not a difficult job. If you have never done it before make a list of the conections as you undo them.
