Question about Memorex MMP8567 MP3 Player

Device is detected, but I can't add music, because it undetects

Never had the problem before, but now the device is detected (memorex mmp8567 mp3 player) and suddenly it switches off detection, as if it's not detected anymore. Then it detects it again moments later, and undetects again.

    I tried syncing with WMP, it stopped before the transfer, I tried dragging and dropping files, and got a message the the device was disconnected. All this after the screen onn the device says "USB connected......ready"

    I have the same problem, but it wont even sinc up w/ my computer. It detects it, then undetects, then detects again, but nothing. I checked 'my computer' and it doesnt register as one of my drives.

I downloaded the Updater program from Memorex but it couldn't find the player.
The directions from Memorex said ''Hold down the play button and plug in usb cable.'' Another set of Memorex directions said, ''Hold down the power button and plug in usb cable.'' Neither worked for me.
SOLUTION: I finally held down the LOCK/UNLOCK button and plugged in the usb cable. My computer found the player immediately and a software driver window popped up asking for a driver. I let windows search the internet and it found and installed the driver. The driver it was looking for was: ''player recover device class driver'' After windows confirmed it recognized my mp3 player I started up the Firmware update program and was able to update the player.
I tried to be clear and detailed. Good Luck ;-)

Boot error

Everytime I plugged it in to the computer the computer would find it but then it would disappear almost immediately.

Boot error


Hello all:

I just resolved this same boot error problem with my Memorex MMP8567 mp3 player. After talking to technical support, they could not resolve it, so I decided to try it myself. Here is what I did step by step:

1. Downloaded and installed the firmware for the player from memorex web site.

2. In windows xp, click on Start>All Programs>Digital Audio Player>Memorex MMP8567 Firmware Download to start the firmware program.

3. Connect the USB cable for the player to the computer's USB port.

4. Remove battery from the mp3 player and connect it to USB cable. At the same time depress and hold BOTH the 'menu' button on the left of the player and the volume control button on the right of the player for a few seconds until you see "initializing" in your firmware software program. Then click on the "format" option within this same firmware program. (Note: this will erase all your files on the player, but will also get rid of whatever is causing the boot errors!)

5. When the firmware program is ready, click on start and wait until it is finished.

6. Your MMP8567 should now work just fine!

Well it sounds like you did something to your computer because if it worked one time it should still work, try restarting both your computer and MP3 player and try Sync again. Hope this helps =)

The firmware (and software to update it on your mp3 player) can be found here.

No other software is needed if you are using windows xp or vista.

Pre-Loaded Songs


I realize this post is very old, so I'm commenting for posterity's sake. I don't have this particular model, but I had the same problem with my MMP8568. I couldn't delete pre-loaded tracks from WMP or manually from My Computer. The only thing that worked for me was reformatting my device and deleting everything off of it and starting over.

Basically, I went to My Computer and right-clicked on the icon corresponding to my MP3 player. I selected Format from the options and it deleted everything, from my own songs that I loaded to the pre-loaded content. Then, I resynched my music.

I tried EVERYTHING, and this was the only method that worked for me. :/
