Dayton kerosene heater 3E219B will not turn on

I plugged in the heater and it ran without igniting for about 10 seconds then shut off. I dried the excess kerosene off and the heater still will not do anything when plugged in. Reset button does nothing.

  1. Determine if there is spark at the plug
  2. no spark? check the transformer. Is 110v going in but spark not coming out? check for ground. If grounded, replace the transformer with the modern replacement 102482-01 .
  3. No 110v going into the transformer? check the reset. If defective, replace with the modern replacement HA3003
  4. If 110v coming in and out of the reset, replace the photocell HA3019

I have reddy pro 170 i plug it in , the fan & igniter comes on for 10 to 15 seconds then shuts off ,blew through fuel line and nozzle still same result, i do see fuel mist coming out nozzle ,i dont k

You must make sure the mist is not to close to the igniter . If it is it wont be misty enough to ignite. And make sure its in the path of the mist. If its new return it to the store.

When i plug in my unit it turns on for about 5 seconds and shuts off. doesnt ignite

Check the fuel and tank. If it has been a while since fuel has been refilled, or it has sat without, you may have water in the tank.

Heater will not turn on

First you need to get the power problem solved. pull the cover by the reset switch off and check the fuse. Once you have power again and it does the same thing it's most likely the ignitor thats bad. With the top cover off turn it on and watch the spark plug to see if you have spark. If you have good spark then it's the high heat sensor.

Igniter lites up fan kicks on and within 5 sec shuts off

Dustin, The ignitor only glows for 5 seconds, just long enough to ignite the fuel. The heater is shutting down because the photocell does not see the correct flame color.
Since you say "comes on for 5 seconds", I can only assume that there is a flame. You do not specify a lack of flame. I am also assuming that you have had the heater running this heater season and the problem just started.

YOU must find out if the problem is fuel delivery related or electronics related. Start by checking the pump pressure.
