Question about Dell Inspiron 1300 Notebook

1 Answer

Ok Im not getting anywhere....

Each time I get a response I read it and have to make it more clear. Ok here goes. I have a TS-632D ver.3 dvdrw drive but the only problem is that its not on my device manager, and my computer. It turns on when I boot up and I have tried to search for free software for it from the company. It is nowhere located on the laptop system. So I have a drive that works(powers up) but doesnt do a thing. Doesnt read or write dvds. When I click on the icon it says insert cd. And now I am wondering should I buy a new drive or is this a plug in play drive that I have? So once again...its not registrying on device manager and isnt anywhere in the system. I can get firmware but I need the software for it if it comes with software. This is so complicated.....wow!

Here is your product support webpage .
Click on the CD/DVD firmware, download and install.

PS You are correct,As long as a player/burner has power attached to it it wil light up and run but this had nothng to do iwith it communicating with the computer. This only had to do with the mechanics of the device.

TSSTcorp TS-L632 (B) drive is writing CDs, reading DVDs but not writing DVDs.

First check that your drive is indeed a DVD writer and not a 'hybrid' i.e. CD writer and DVD reader. If it is, go on the manufacturer's site and see if they have Win 8 compatible drivers - Win 8 is a fairly new OS so they may not have had time to get a new one out.

TSST corp DVDRW TS L632H ATA error 10

http://www.pcworld.com/product/29398/dell_inspiron_e1505.html?p=specs

Kel,

1) Left-click on Start
2) Right-click on My Computer.
3) Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
4) Left-click on the Hardware tab.

5) Left-click on Device Manager
6) Left-click on the + sign next to Disk drives
7) Right-click on the name of the optical drive -

TSST TS L632H
(Name and model number, actually. may just have TS L632H )

8) Left-click on Properties
9) Left-click on the Driver tab
10) At the bottom left-click on Uninstall

A Microsoft 'squawk box' will come up.
"Warning you are about to uninstall this device, ya-da, ya-da."
Left-click on OK.

Close all windows. Go back to your desktop screen. Turn the computer off.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off )

Wait 1 minute. Turn the laptop back on.
After Windows has fully loaded, (And all the programs you have in the Start menu), you should see a pop-up out of the system tray.

"Found IDE/ATA device", and perhaps another one after it,
"Found TSST TS L632H"

No?
Suggest you remove the optical drive, and reinstall it again.

Not that big a deal. One screw, and it slides out. There are contact pins that may be 'corroded'.
(They are gold plated. Gold isn't supposed to corrode. My word )

By unplugging it, (BY sliding it out), and plugging it in again, it will help clean the contact pins. Mostly it helps ensure the optical drive is plugged in tight.

My tsstcorp cddvdw TS-L632N drive is not reading the cd roms at all. Reading dvds very slow. Any suggestions pl.

1.Click on Start
2.In start search or Run window type devmgmt.msc and then hit enter.
3.This would open the Device Manager Window.
4.Try locating the option which reads as CD/Dvd,there would be a + sign next to the same.
5.Click on the +sign and locate the driver below that.
6.Right click on that driver and then click on Uninstall.
7.Now locate an option which reads ACTIONS right at the top of the device manager.
8.Click on Actions and then click on Scan for hardware Changes.
9.Restart the computer to check the functionality.

Hope this helps..

Inspirion B130 DVDRW drive

On the bottom of the notebook under the DVD drive push the latch to eject the DVD module. Once the module is ejected gently re-insert the module using both thumbs until you hear a click. Your DVD should now be recognized by the computer.

Ok my inspiron 1300 dvdrw drive isnt....

hah. last time i had this happen it was hardware failure on the cd/dvd drive... i hope this isnt the case!

these drives always have satisfactory drivers in windows itself. in your device manager, (control panel--> system-- hardware tab--device manager), does it show your drive in the right place? or is it below in the yellow question mark category indicating that there's a problem?

from your descrition, it sound a bit like you have a bad disk in there not a bad drive, but that's just a guess at this point.

in the device manager, if you "uninstall" your drive, on reboot, the drivers will be installed again ( I assume you have windows xp?). this may help refresh your drivers...

I remember in an older laptop, I upgraded to windows xp service pack 3, and it was that service pack that made my drive at weird, so i went back to sp2

Slot-loading DVDRW - Unable to write

Before taking it down, I would suggest you try a cd/dvd lens cleaning cd. You could get one at any big electronics store. Clean the lens and see. If that doesnt work, look at getting the drive replaced. I've seen this before, it has been an indicator that the drive is starting to fail. Good luck.
