Somehow the original charging cable disappeared, so I have been trying to find a replacement. It takes a 3v connector, so not many options and the Vivitar website doesn't support this model any longer. I can't get the camera to charge via any cable. Any ideas????

Try a universal battery charger. Lots of types, most of the time cheaper than an original charger, and capable of charging almost all Camera batteries. Independent what voltage they are, so you could use the same charger with your next camera too. There are chargers with manual setup of the connectors, but also chargers that sense the contacts automatically and know what voltage they should deliver to charge the battery. Lots of chargers, lots of prices.
There are 2 probable solutions.
1. The images are "protected" by the camera & will show "locked" when you try to erase them.
2. The SD card in the camera is locked.
The solution to 1 is to unlock the images in the playback menu. See page 45 of the manual.
Solution 2 is to remove the card from the camera & check the "lock" slider that you can see on the side (although no all cards have this). Set the lock off.
