Marshall Amp Sound Problem

When i am playing my guitar through this amp, its starts out great, but then the volume cuts in half. It stays that way until i turn off the amp for a while. Is this possibly repairable or is it more sensible to get a new amp...which goes for at least $500

My Marshall MG 100DFX has a volume problem too! When I turn it on and play at any volume, it starts to vary in loudness, sometimes being loud and then going back to being soft again. I don't know if its a blown capacitor or its not utilizing the power its getting from the outlet but I can not figure it out. please help!

Marshall Amplification Marshall MG2FX Guitar Combo Amp power turns on but no sound

Hi!
At this point, I would just take it to a tech rather than poke around in it. It sounds like the power section is the problem as you have guessed, but without the technical knowledge you'd be shooting in the dark. That particular amp is right on the line of being expensive enough that would be worth repairing, but you might do just as wel to check Ebay for another used one.
Good Luck!

Marshall MB4410, with low volume gives no real volume,

Guitar amps have preamp sections (think unpowered audio mixer) and power amp sections (Crown rack-mount amp). An excellent way to isolate audio problems if amp is still producing audio is to check the preamp out (line out). Preamp output distorted = preamp failure. Connect MP3 player to "Power Amp In"...sound distorted = power amp failure. In your case the latter is the case as your "line out" is clean. Also test each speaker for clear sound as speaker cone damage from being overpowered is fairly common. At 300w. I'll assume the failure was not from cranking the volume to loud but a shorted speaker or speaker wiring could zap the power amp in an instant.

Only just bought amp ,but twice now its just cut out, lost sound ,if i switch off wait a minute it ciomes back on cannot be normal surely? rgds neil

Not normal... however verify your guitar cable and guitar to avoid embarassment if the problem might be with those items. ALSO if you are driving this too hard, it probably has thermal shutdown and will shut down the power amp if the circuits get too hot... This is a smaller amp so If you are playing louder than *********** could stand it in a 15 foot square room, you are overdriving this unit and you best get a bigger one.

Jvm 410h squeals with feedback in most distorted modes at about half volume even when guitar volume is off

Test if it does it with the guitar cable unplugged from the amp. If it does, then it is time for servicing... If not, then you have a system grounding problem and the guitar cable is "leaking" signal into the amp. This can happen even if guitar is NOT connected.

I run a pod HD 500 into the amp and It breaks up, like there is a blown speaker sometimes.

The Marshall is a super clean acoustic amp.

The POD is overloading the amp.

Try the electric guitar input and keep the gain on the amp down, keep the EQ level and use the POD and the end volume to adjust the final volume.

The normal inputs is for a low output acoustic pickup - the POD is a high output electronic source.

Start with the Marshall gains low and get the clean sound good, then work on the gritty sound.

The amp is voiced for a sweet clean sound - if you want grit'n'ball change to a 50w Marshall valve head and a 4 X 12 cabinet.

I got a Marshall MG100HFX Amplifier for guitar. The problem is that whenever i turn treble switch on it gives clean sound as it should, but in couple seconds it fades away. When I turn the switch again it...

I haven't played or worked on a MG100HFX but I understand amp circuits very well. The behavior you are describing sounds to me like a bad capacitor in the Treble circuit. This is a problem that would require the skills of an experienced amp tech. If you are within your warranty period you might want to return it. If not, a good local repair shop should be able to diagnose the problem.

Good luck and keep rockin'!

I was playing my guitar on my marshal until i noticed the volume started to quit down until the sound totally died out. and now the amp is turned on and all the valves are on but theres no sound whats so...

Just because the voves are lit doesn't mean there is the high voltage power to the valves.

ALSO the smaller valves have TWO heaters in them and if one half has burned out that would cause the symptom. Check if the smaller 12AX7/12AT7 types all have two heaters burning. Verify that the standby switch has not gotten bumped off.

Ive just purchased a marshall mg250dfx amp and when i play the volume cuts down low and then back up again like its fading in and out every so often

Since you just purchased this, verify that your guitar and cables are good on another amp and if they are good, then exercise your warranty on the Marshall.

Connectors and cables for guitars are chronic problems so verify they are good to avoid looking foolish.

Marshall DSL 100 - volume fades away and gradually comes back on

IF this is a vacuum tube unit, these symptoms are that of a tube that the heater is intermittent, that is it cools off due to a break and then liights again.

Open the back and observe the heaters in the tubes. DO NOT be fooled by some that have TWO heaters in them. (use a mirror if necessary) A single one that comes and goes can cause the problem and the voiration can make it come and go. This behavior in a tube is NOT somthing readily spotted in a tube checker. The delay in fading and coming back would be the delay in warm up following a heater going out and cooling.

While playing, the volume cuts up and down in all the channels.

Fiirst check if your input connector is bad. Move the cable right at the connector and see if the volume jumps... HOWEVER before doing that even, verify your guitar is not the problemm using another amp.

If it is definetly the Marshal, it will likely need servicing.

It could be a bad volume control or a cracked circuit board.
