My Kenmore 70 series is not spinning clothes dry. I have changed the clutch and it still only works if I put it on the second spin cycle.
It is not suppose to work on the first time because it hasa spin pawl which allows the transmission to not spin while the washer pumps out the water. It is called a neutral pac tranny. from what you descibe it is a timer problem if anything at all.

I actually had the same problem with my kenmore. It was making a noise like it wanted to spin, but it just would not start. I shut the power off on ever other appliance that was runing (electric wall heater, electric space heater, 2 televisions and and a toaster). Once I did this the kenmore started spinning! did this work for you? [email protected]

All of the water drains after the rinse cycle and the basket spins but the clothes are soaking wet, the water is pumping out but not spinning fast enough to remove the excess water. When I start the 2nd rinse/spin cycle it spins the clothes properly.
I havent't checked to see how hot the motor is getting. If it becomes hot...would that indicate need for new motor?
My Kenmore 70 series doesn't spin and makes a loud buzzing noise. I can't even get the back off of the machine. Any ideas?
