I was unable to get that ring off also... I was able to pull plastic side apart far enough to pull motor out and "rewire" it. Even fit back in when I was done... just barely. and was very gentle...

I do not know how to get the ring apart, though.

On the Dyson DC07, can the cyclone canister be COMPLETELY disassembled?

Hi Jeff, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC07's cyclone pack isn't designed to be dismantled. To ensure optimum performance, some parts are bonded together to create an airtight seal. It wouldn't be possible to disassemble this section of the cyclone pack without damaging the machine. We also advise against removing the cyclone top as it can be difficult to do this without causing damage to the internal bin release rod.

If you need some help with your DC07 you're welcome to contact us directly for advice. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The screws holding the face for my speedometer came out. Is there a way to take apart the speedo and fix the problem?

Typically the upper and lower half of the speedo and tach are held together with a metal band that is folded over the lips of the two halves. to separate you will have to carefully cut the band (usually on the bottom, towards you), peel it of trying not to kink it(save for later) and two halves should easily separate. Clean, lubricate, screw, etc. Put band back on, put a spot of glue at cut seam (only)and carefully wrap band with tape( electric works good)to hold speedo band and halves together.

How do I replace the motor brushes in my DC11? I cannot dismantle beyond removing the pipe attachment. I've removed the 6 fixing screws that are visible, but the machine is still firmly "together" as if...

Hi,

I've never worked on a DC11 but have worked on several types of Dyson uprights. The following may or may not be relevant to the DC11 but may give you a few clues.

On the uprights I've worked on, if you remove the dust canister, underneath it is a clip-on cover with what's known as a post motor filter under it. This varies between models from a simple fibre pad, to a plastic encased paper filter very similar to the one that goes in the top of the dust canister. Having removed the clip-on cover / pad / filter, there should be a few more screws that when released will allow the motor housing to be taken apart.

The site www.dysonmedic.com is excellent, but doesn't yet cover the DC11.

Incidentally, I've just repaired my fathers DC07 which appeared at first to be a brushes problem. When I got it apart, it became obvious that the motor armature had a worsening fault whereby it was overheating so badly the over-current trip on the motor kept cutting out. The overheating was so bad that the bottom of the post motor filter was actually burnt !
Searching on eBay, I found a complete replacement motor for £18 inc p&p, but no listing for brushes. You may therefore find a) it isnt the brushes and b) you cant buy the brushes separately anyway.

Good luck !

How to take apart hp ze5570us to see what is wrong with the plug socket for the charger? I have taken all screws out but the computer does not seem to be coming apart easily.

First of all remove all your components ie. RAM, hard drive, battery, CD/DVD drive etc. Sometimes there are screws located in the area where these components are located that secures the top and bottom halves of the case.
I suggest that as you remove the screws from the bottom of the case you take a note where the came from as some of the screws are different lengths.
There may be s strip panel between the top of the keyboard and the LCD screen, remove this first, it will be clipped in place and held with screws from the bottom of the laptop.
Next the keyboard should removed and keyboard cable.
Look closely for screws hidden behind plastic stick on covers, you need to use a sharp thin blade to lift off these covers to reveal the screws behind the covers.
The top and bottom halves of the case is usually held in place with plactic clips, start at an opening and carefully pull apart until a clip releases and the work along that edge to release more clips. Continue along each edge until you separate the case.
The LCD screen is usually secured with screws on the back edge of the laptop and possible with screws near the edge of the motherboard. Take care to disconnect the video connector.
The motherboard needs to be removed from the bottom half of the case so you can access the power connector.
Take careful note where you remove each screw as you need to put them back in reverse order.

Best of luck, have fun.

Cannot open TS 4500 shredder.

look around on top or bottom for a decal or label covering. A lot of times there is a screw located under it, once you peel back the label.

There is a screw under one of the black labels on the side. Think it is the one showing different length positions.

Is there a secret to getting the cover apart?

Hi Glenn.
I find it very difficult to get imformation for your machine model.
So try this.
If the two parts are still holding near to the handwheel, I beleave that there is a hidden screw under the handwheel.
Try to remove the handwheel and check.

Harman Kardon HK695 computer speakers

In addition to all the screws mentioned in the bottom of the speaker, the HK695 has an internal brace that runs the length of the case and provides a support bracket for the speaker. To separate the halves of the sub woofer, carefully use a paperclip or something similar to hook the screen over the speaker and pull it off. Once the speaker is exposed, remove the four screws, pull out the speaker and disconnect the speaker wires. Remove the speaker. At this point, the halves will separate enough for you to disconnect the two multi-connector electrical cables that run from the circuit board in the base to the circuit board in the top. Once that is done the case will come apart.

Lens does not extend

If you drop one of the Coolpix cameras, the case can get jammed up against the lens. The lens may not extend at all, and you are probably getting SYSTEM ERROR messages. The motor that extends the lens isn't powerful. By loosening the screws that hold the case together, you may be able to move the case slightly and get everything back into alignment. This task is for the mechanically inclined and who can be gentle and patient. Brute strength is NOT called for here. Also, if your camera is under warranty, do not do this!

Removing the case screws will require a jewelers phillips head screwdriver and a well-lit workspace that will prevent losing the screws (they are tiny). Not all the screws are exactly the same. You have to keep track of where they came from so that they go back into the same hole. Get a clean sheet of paper and draw a map of the camera body showing where the screws go. There are 11 screws all together two of which are under the battery cover.

Shut off the camera and remove the battery. As you remove the screws, place them on the corresponding spot on the map. When all the screws are removed, the case may not want to come apart. GENTLY move the two halves of the case apart at the bottom of the camera (For some reason, the camera wants to come apart at the base before the top). It probably isn't necessary to take the body apart. If the body does come apart, note that the OFF/ON dial is connected to the circuit board by a thin ribbon cable, so the halves cannot be separated completely in any case. DO not pull on this cable.

What you are trying to do is loosen the two halves of the case and give them a chance to get back into the original position. Note that the tripod mount is a separate piece and will shift slightly if you separate the case halves at the bottom.

If the case halves are loose and they have moved, you've may have fixed the problem. Replace the screws. You may need a pair of needle nosed pliers to get the screws back into the holes. Put the battery in and turn on the camera. If you moved the body correctly, then the lens should pop out. Don't be afraid to try a couple of times.

I may have been lucky in that this worked for me, but if your camera isn't working at all (mine wasn't), this may be worth a try. Just be extremely careful of those screws.

How do I remove a motor from a Dyson DC04? The bottom plastic cover can be removed by unsrewing the tork screws but the cover beneath the filter won't come off

I can't say exactly how to do this, but when you can't find the screws to take something apart, they are usually hidden by something else. You did good looking under the bottom cover, but what you're looking for is elsewhere. If there is a seam or line around the middle where it looks like two halves fit together and you can't find anymore screws, use a flat blade screwdriver and GENTLY start to pry them apart to see if they start to separate. If it doesn't give easily, don't force it. Many times a cover will snap into place and then is held secure by screws.

Good luck, and please remember to rate this. I want to know if this helps at all.

Thanks, and good luck!
