Same problem. "Please Wait" stayed on forever. Searched web and found out about capacitor problem. I have no experience soldering, but my brother does. He was able to solder in two capacitors and it worked perfectly. Said it was a very easy fix.

New problem. U99 Error Code. Sent for service, they say not fixable, will replace with equal value... except they do not make a unit with a Hard Drive anymore! Do anything you can to keep it running. I think my latest problem was for overloading the hard drive.

The capacitors on your power supply board have gone bad. If you can solder it is an easy fix.

Pan. dmr-e85h turned itself on, self-check

Open case and look for failed capacitors, which are cylindrical and will have a bulging top and a yellow/gold substance leaking out. If this is the problem, search for previous solutions that mention "solder capacitor C1260" for the DMR-E85. I had a similar 'no power' problem with my DMR-E55 and my son and I were able to fix it Sunday. Not hard to do and mine is working again!
