Question about Neff B1432 Single circotherm plus Electric Oven

1 Answer

Nef B1432 (2000) not heating up properly

Our fan oven hasn't worked properly for years, so we never use it any more. The conventional top and bottom oven started playing up more recently, it heats up a bit but food isn't being cooked properly. Having read the other posts on here for the same oven I have checked the oven over and found the following:
The fan oven element does heat up, the fan itself only spins very slowly - but there is loads of air blowing from somewhere.
The top and bottom elements seem to get hot too (at least they did in the 5 minute check I did).

So what might be the cause of the temperature problems, is likely to be the thermostat/s? If the fan isn't spinning (and the motor is making a funny strained noise) do I change the fan and how easy is that??

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Is there more than one fan? I can't find the manual so I don't have any technical info. showing inner workings.

The fan at the back of the oven definitely doesn't spin round and it hasn't done for years, but it's only recently that the conventional oven stopped working properly.

Are you saying that there is a fan under the bottom plate as well as the one I can see at the back of the oven? In which case I might need to replace two fans to get both the fan and conventional top/bottom ovens working again?

Thanks for your help and for getting back to me so swiftly.

You possibly need to fit a new fan motor, as this will certainly cause temp variations, if it is not working properly.
If you remove the inner rear cover of bottom oven, you will see the element and the fan.Try spinning the fan by hand, it should revolve freely, and rotate on its own after spinning it by hand.
If it does not, then it needs replacing.
It is a fairly straight forward job to replace, just bear in mind that the fan is held on by a left handed nut, so to undo it , hold the fan blade, and unscrew the nut clockwise, as though you were tightening it up, and vice versa to tighten it.

You will have to remove the main rear cover of oven to access the the terminals and the fan motor.

Please rate my fixya soution.
Thanks.

I have to admit , you now have me confused, it would appear from what you are saying, that there are 3 elements in the fan oven.

Any way , if the fan is not working properly, it is defiinately going to affect the way the oven behaves, so I still say the fan motor is causing the prob, as for feeling plenty of air blowing, then that is probably from the cooling fan mounted in the top of the oven cabinet..

Hope this clarifys the situation somewhat.

Why does the fan mode on the bottom oven on my zanussi Zou575 not working?

Because in Main Oven Cavity (large) around the convection fan is very powerful ring heating element 2500W (not visible) who works in the Fan mode. Therefore, it is not necessary that all heaters work because it will overheat the oven.

The fan and oven light in bottom oven works but not heat.

The heating element is the likely culprit as they burn out and go open
circuit..(ie ...disconnected and will not heat up )
If you can use a multi-meter , then the element can be tested using the resistance range (with the oven SWITCHED OFF )

Main fan oven does not work, conventional main oven does work

The element is where you said and yes it can be replaced without removing the oven. Remove the bacplate from inside the oven and you will see the element and fan. Remove the screws from the element and gently pull it forward then remove the 2 wires and keep hold whilst you fit the new element. Replace screws in the element refit the backplate job done.
