Question about Canon PowerShot S230 / IXUS 179 Digital Camera
Ive had this camera for about 4 years hassle free. now its decided to go weird on me! when i go outside and look through the lcd screen, all the colours are weird. like looking through a negative. can anyone tell me what the problem could be, and if its expensive to fix? many thanks
Yep, this sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

This is a CCD failure. The Camera is quite old to even contemplate a repair. However before you dump it check out the Canon custpmer support Some Cameras of this model were subject to a recall- if this was one of them- you may get a nice discount on a new camera
