The dvdrw drive turns on when the computer turns on but on the my computer section the cd drive icon is there but when I click on it it says insert cd. But now its a TS-632D ver.3. What shall I do? I had a solution on here but wasnt a step by step processes so that I dont delete any files which will corrupt my laptop. Someone help........

Hah. last time i had this happen it was hardware failure on the cd/dvd drive... i hope this isnt the case!

these drives always have satisfactory drivers in windows itself. in your device manager, (control panel--> system-- hardware tab--device manager), does it show your drive in the right place? or is it below in the yellow question mark category indicating that there's a problem?

from your descrition, it sound a bit like you have a bad disk in there not a bad drive, but that's just a guess at this point.

in the device manager, if you "uninstall" your drive, on reboot, the drivers will be installed again ( I assume you have windows xp?). this may help refresh your drivers...

I remember in an older laptop, I upgraded to windows xp service pack 3, and it was that service pack that made my drive at weird, so i went back to sp2

I have a dell inspiron 700 and a hp dvdrw. the dell recogonizes the dvdrw and downloads, but when i try to burn, nothing happens.

Uninstall the software for the DVDRW then reinstall. Next check to see if you need to defrag the hard drive. Analyze first then do defrag on hard drive.

Cd/dvd wont play only wants me to burn

What you describe is a failure of the Read optics of the drive. If you boot to the safe mode, and have the same issue, reseat the drive and there is no change, then the drive is bad. Replacements are generally less than $100

Dell Inspiron 1300, no sound.

it's something to do with it being the wrong driver in the right package, i've gathered. go to: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R171789&SystemID=INSPIRON1300/B130&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8907&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=4&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=235761 and install that driver. it works perfectly.

Inspirion B130 DVDRW drive

On the bottom of the notebook under the DVD drive push the latch to eject the DVD module. Once the module is ejected gently re-insert the module using both thumbs until you hear a click. Your DVD should now be recognized by the computer.

Ok Im not getting anywhere....

Here is your product support webpage .
Click on the CD/DVD firmware, download and install.

PS You are correct,As long as a player/burner has power attached to it it wil light up and run but this had nothng to do iwith it communicating with the computer. This only had to do with the mechanics of the device.
