Hi, it sounds like your computer doesn't have the driver for it. Have you updated your Windows Media Player to Number 11. Go to Windows website, download WMP 11 and then plug in your MP3 player and it should find it.

MP3 players connects to a computer using an USB cable. When connected the computer will see the MP3 player as an external storage device. This allows you to copy files from the computer to the MP3 player and it will also allow the computer to read files off the MP3 player. Therefore you can select and play video files from the MP3 player on your computer monitor.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
THEN, do the "Repair" in the Philips Device Manager
I just fixed my own problem. I connected my player to another USB and it read it for a few minutes so I quickly used the websites Firmware and now it turns on and is read by my computer. Now the new problem is that when I try to add songs it says "Error." =(
If that fails, then try to download the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool from: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1532 If that still fails, upgrade the firmware from the Sansa website If that fails, uninstall the software from the installation CD and reinstall it from the Sansa website.
