Make sure the cam is compatible with vista
if you have software unplug the cam then don't plug it in till it asks
before you do this if you already installed but it won't work then add remove uninstall and start over.

    is this a new cam

make sure the cam is unplugged and you have the software cd

then in control panel add/remove uninstall any webcams then in device manager uninstall any webcam drivers you have

restart pc and then run software again do not plug cam in till asked if does'nt tell you to plug the cam in then afetr software is installed restart and plug cam in

let me know if you get any other error messages

the error message is telling you the cam has a compatibility issue with your windows version if the error message gives you the option to continue installing then continue if not then start over

read your cam instructions if asked where you want it to be setup then change to c:\ program files

let me know if you still get that error message

the cam may not work with your windows then you'll need a new camera thats compatible

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. This is definitely a driver issue. We can start the troubleshooting with running the hardware and devices troubleshooter and installing the different set of drivers.

 Method 1.
Let us start with running the hardware troubleshooter and check. Follow  the article below for more information:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

Method 2.
Here is the Acre's download center link:

If there are no Windows 7 drivers available, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode.
Follow the steps below to install this software in Windows VISTA SP1 Compatibility mode:
1. Right click on the setup file.
2. Go to properties.
3. Click on Compatibility mode.
4. Place a check mark the box  in the box in front of  "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and from the drop down menu choose Windows Vista SP1.
5. Place a check mark on "Run as an Administrator" under privileges level and click on Apply and then Ok.
5. Now double click on the setup file to initiate the install. Also you may check the make of the camera in the device manager and download the drivers from the webcam manufacturer's website directly. Hope this helps. :)

Just upgrade your Windows Vista operating system to Service pack 2. Just download a service pack 2 installer and it will sure solve your problem. Because some hardware device will not work in service pack 1 due to outdated driver.

I hope it helps you.

Webcam of Acer Aspire 7720G does not work with Vista SP1

download or update the latest drivers for the camera. Otherwise, download sp2.
If none of these work, which they should, then you may have to do a system restore and go back to the time before sp1 was installed

Acer Extensa 4620Z Crystal Eye Webcam Not Working.

Hallow Dear,

First I would like to advice you to remove the webcam driver & application completely from add/removes program in control panel. And make sure after you reboot our PC let the webcam detected by windows as unknown device.

Use link below & Select the EXACT WEBCAM DRIVER THAT YOU HAVE; under Driver & Utilities, according to your OS. Then you will get connect to download automatically.

Install properly & reboot once.

*** If you are using VISTA***
Please ensure that VISTA SP1 is installed on your system prior to installing these drivers! Driver incompatibilities on a system without VISTA SP1 might affect usability.

I GOT A WINDOWS VISTA AND IM TRYING TO GET A VEO CAM TO WORK ON IT BUT ITS NOT WORKING IT SAYS ITS ONLY COMPITABLE WITH WINDOWS 95 98 ME AND XP WHAT SHOULD I DO.??/

Select the install.exe file in the CD root and right click. Select compatibility for XP. Then run the install. I just did it on VISTA business and it works fine. If you want to run NetMeeting, then there is a patch from MicroSoft (3.0.2) that can be downloaded and installed. Both now work on VISTA, SP1. Good luck

Creative webcam nx pro driver for windows vista 64

When you don't have the drivers-cd:
- Download the XP-drivers of your webcam (and unpack them if they are zipped).

Else start with these steps
1. Uninstall whatever webcam driver you have previously attempted to install.
2. From the device manager, scan for new hardware, and your webcam will be recognized and will continue to search for a driver.
3. If asked for for further search.. choose the place where it must search (cd or your downloaded driver-map)
4. Just allow the prompts to continue with the installation.
5. When the driver is successfully installed, you can test it right away.

Goodluck.
